The Japanese F&B landscape are slowly evolving. The newer concept will displace the older concept.

You miss out the lifestyle coffee shops / café.

We got a lot options at present day & it is a good thing for the consumers but for the F&B operators, their customers base are being diluted.

Sushi Zanmai is still the golden benchmark for sushi chains in Malaysia. Decent taste,  reasonable price, and accessible. That's why they always have long queues during weekends.

Genki Sushi is actually aggressively expanding since coming out of Covid Lockdowns. The quality of their food is much better than Sushi Zanmai, but the price is also higher than most affordable Sushi chains. You get what you pay for.

Sushi King =Cheap and not good

Sushi Mentai = Cheap but ok
The rest of the "Sushi X " chains have disappeared or are failing.

You forgot Sakae Sushi = gonna say bye-bye soon.

A lot branches already closed shop. Sakae Sushi was the only alternative to Sushi King almost 20 years ago.

That why, if the menu remained the same & no introduction of new menu over the years, consumers will just get bored.
