1. How long do you intend to keep the EV before selling?
2. Insurance include perils coverage?
3. What is this house amp? Is normal 3 phase enough? Cannot use existing electric setup?
4. How long does it take to charge? Looks like cost is half of petrol.
5. Does charging time affect your schedule? Need to hunt for EV bays? Need to queue? Since you mentioned need to sleep in car. Do you have dependents/running errands?
6. How much does battery replacement cost?
7. Battery degradation <5 years for Thailand in a year? That is steep really.
8. How much is the service cost? How much does the major service cost? Average cost of service for 200k km mileage? For me it is RM1.1K average until 200k km.

Looking at the car budget there, you could actually get a fairly recent used sorento/sportage diesel. But then used car la. First time using diesel, I like it.

Like you, I am an ex suprima owner 2013. Sold 2017 for RM42K. Bought a Kia Sorento UM diesel. 7 seat SUV. My fuel cost is half of suprima. Full tank Euro 5 diesel RM140. I get 750km in town. I refuel full tank every 6 weeks town driving. I drive everyday, though the distance is about 20+km. Long distance, I get 900+ km. If I stick to speed limit and like 90 km, can pass 1000 km range. I have to do long distance balik Kampung few times a year. Kota Bharu - Batu Pahat/Kuala Pilah. Only half tank used. Suprima, need to refuel halfway. Since I am in Kota Bharu, there are only 2 free public charging stations in KB. Nothing anywhere else in Kelantan. EV for my case will not work, unless distance exceeds 1000km due to the long distance travel. Also this is my only car. Good all rounder.

After 6 years, any plans to change your Sorento?
*
Currently, no way. Will think when 9 years old Including myself, 4 people use it daily. Mileage is only 68k km despite using on a daily basis Reason:
1. Cannot find any D segment suv with this this displacement at 170k (price I bought previously). You can try and stack up all the specs with competition. Need to spend more than double for XC90. If I sell, what to buy at same price?

2. Diesel is great. More mileage for not really that much fuel price. Like 10% fuel vs RON95 for like 40% more mileage.

3. Easy to get parts (even though not a lot of ocal vendors).

4.40:20:40 second row split seats. Not sure if any car makers offer this. I have a child seat and booster seat, can carry 10 foot log, carpet without sacrificing 2nd row seats. All other cars are 40:60 split seats. From time to time, need to transport long items and still carry 4 people total.

5. New sorento diesel is worse:
5.1. 40:60 split seats. If I carry carpet or tall items, need to sacrifice one 2nd row now. I carry 4 people almost all the time.
5.2. No sunglass holder. X90 only on flagship.
5.3. 6 seats. Useless for cramming people during balik kg.
5.4. Diesel high spec Cost 255k. Mine diesel high spec 170k. Can buy ativa

6. Interior still feels like new despite heavy use. Quality wise I'd say the X9O is better than the sorento.

7. Custom upgrades I installed myself:
7.1. Android HU screen with sorento bracket. Can youtube, waze, Google etc with dedicated sim card.
7.2. Front and rear dash cam.

8. Big third row, only loose to X90. People up to 160 cm can seat nicely in 3rd row. Third row got on ac vents and can control. Like X90 and new sorento. It does not have usb ports for third row. Easy to fix. I can custom install it myself later but I only use third row when balik kg. Not a deal breaker. Third row AC more important than USB charger. Also another reason why I bought this.

9. X90 is a viable replacement, but missing seat belt wall anchor points for 2nd and 3rd row. It also does not have a tonneau cover for items. No AWD. Simple things but will make a difference.

10. Don't care about active safety features. Car cannot drive itself in Kampung are also. No need to worry about random breaking. I also use my rear view side mirrors away from vehicle. Not seeing the vehicle. Enough for blind spot.

11. Auto cruise at 160km feels the same like auto cruise 90 km in Suprima. Quiet, stable. Low engine noise because of diesel.

12. Sorento has AWD. Used it few times to get out of banjir, lumpur, redah ladang kelapa sawit. Main reason when I sold suprima-stuck in lumpur. Kena gali 3 jam baru boleh reverse. Needed AWD 7 seats, good ride quality.

13. 2nd row got built in window shade. Also another reason why I bought this.

Sorento is not a master of all, but it comes close to mastering all. And for an only car at 170k previously, when USD was rm 3.8
Now RM4.5. NAZA sold their KIA cheap compared to bermaz now. I really cannot find any alternative. I did spend 6 months staring at an excel sheet before selecting this car. The diesel is at least 10k more expensive than petrol variant used.

If you have not experienced the sorento UM or MQ4, the X90 is a good choice.

Do you plan to do balik kg trips in ev? Or go holiday during peak season when everyone is on the road with ev? Is it visible?.With limited cheering bays and lots of ev want to use and long charging time.

What is the longest time you had to queue to use charger?

I dont have a kampung to balik to. But would keen to experience peak season jam maybe in the future. Should be much more comfortable to be in since the ev barely use any charge in slow traffic and it has stop n go adaptive cruise with hands off lane centering assist

Never had any experience needing to queue for a charger

Tumpat to Pengerang it is then. Better challenge then the easy plus highway.

Just check a better route planner app. For BYD,  Tumpat to Pengerang needs to stop at Paka RnR, Kuantan town, Mount Austin johor and finally reach Pengerang

But checked for a Mercedes EQS450+ , can stop only once at kuantan town and proceed straight to Pengerang

That route is a charging desert actually. Theres one new fast charger coming at kuala rompin but definitely needs more to be build along the way

Awana kijai has a free charger at the entrance foyer. But slow charger.

So it is doable?

Doable but the charger at awana kijal is only for staying in hotel guest.

At the moment there is no fast charger other than at the Paka RnR after kota bharu until you reach Kuantan town. So its a must stop there

I see.

Since I am in Kota Bharu, will wait for the 10k charger deployment before venturing into ev
