The Flash (2023)

The Flash is a 2023 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. Produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Studios, Double Dream, and the Disco Factory, and set for distribution by Warner Bros. Pictures,[4] it is intended to be the 13th installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The film is directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay by Christina Hodson and stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen / The Flash alongside Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú, Kiersey Clemons, Antje Traue, and Michael Keaton. In the film, Barry travels back in time to prevent his mother's death, which brings unintended consequences.

Development of a film featuring the Flash began in the late 1980s, with multiple writers and directors attached to the project through 2014. The film was then redeveloped as a part of the DCEU, with Miller cast as the title character. Multiple directors were attached to the film over the following years, with Seth Grahame-Smith, Rick Famuyiwa, and the duo of John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein all departing the project over creative differences. Muschietti and Hodson joined the film in July 2019, and pre-production began in January 2020. The film is influenced by the comic book storyline Flashpoint, featuring multiple DC Comics characters, including both Ben Affleck and Keaton, reprising their respective versions of Batman. Principal photography took place from April to October 2021 at Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden and on location around the United Kingdom.

The movie started with a bang.

It actually looked like a continuation of Zack Synder's Justice League.

The new Flash suit is great!

What stumbled me at the beginning was... Ron Livingston now plays Henry Allen (in Justice League, Billy Crudup played that role).

Just a small stumble mind you... moving on.

What was the main stumbling block for me was


How did Barry learn about the speed force etc?

It was never explained.

I blame the choppiness on the reshoots and I understand there were many...

Overall I do believe it was worth watching.

It is entertaining.

Watch this at the biggest screen you can find.

When the movie works, it works! There are flaws....

Is the cgi really bad like all the reviews point out.
I have high tolerence for bad cgi.
Growing up watching movies & animation with bad cgi & vfx will do that to you. Haha

Maybe not cut the budget but top comment on penguinz0 the flash review said the CGI budget went into Ezra's bail fees.
Maybe he's not wrong haha.
But he gave it good reviews. itching to watch movies. last time time went to cinema is to see JW4.
Plus michael keaton batman. the og batman. really wanted to see that.

CGI not the greatest and over used in my opinion...

I thought DC Movies CGI is not good as Marvel.

If you watched previous DC movies, the CGI is so sucks.

So it's expected i guess

It's because DC didn't have their own studios up till gunn took over. So every time a new DC movie releases, with new director and new production crew, the production value is all over the place

Just watched it. Cgi is not that bad but definitely can use some improvement. Some scene good cgi, some scene not the best.
Agree with you on the last act. But the one in russia. Wow batman is so great.

Wonder if WB can buy Industrial Light and Magic off Disney, since Disney wants to sell Lucas Arts...

WB is more broke than disney, don't think they can buy any IP off disney, long history of mismanagement

The Flash is the final nail in the DCEU coffin, if release aquaman 2 tomorrow also will be universally hated and bomb at BO, cos nothing to look forward to and amber heard still there

Gunn is just better off hard rebooting the franchise, new superman, new justice league, new everything

I think WB is in a strong position compared with Disney, because they have already gone through the painful exercise of fat cutting....

Disney "allegedly" was heavily invested in FTX and is currently running around like a headless chicken trying to figure out how to cover that ginormous hole...

Actually the cgi to me not terrible and not good also, but at least it didn't distract me like josstice league vfx

Quite frankly I don't like the ice skating animation when flash is running, feels like 90s animation



even the tv show and games did the running better...

Haha flash has bombed 2nd week 72% drop

I won't watch the movie at the cinemas due to the fact that Ezra Miller is the main actor.
Just go watch youtube about his controversies.

just watched the movie on my telly.
i have always liked the flash character as a superhero. the thought of having superspeed appeals to me a lot.
i think the concept of having superspeed was best showcase by x-men movies (remember the magneto rescue scene and also the mansion explosion scene?).
sadly marvel failed to raise the bar with their version of quicksilver.
then comes the dceu the flash, who is supposedly the fastest of them all. in terms of jaw dropping scene, i would say the batman sequences are better than the flash.
pros:
1. great seeing keaton back in the role and his version of batman is updated to possess skills on par with affleck's.
2. supergirl is a good addition and this version looks cool
3. storyline is okay and soundtrack/score wasn't bad

cons:
1. no new out of the box jaw dropping scene of "super speed". was expecting them to match or outperform x-men quicksilver scenes but sadly does not even come close at all
2. makes supergirl looks weak since all possibilities points to her defeat despite numerous attempts. heck even avengers succeeded at the 13mil+ attempt. lol
3. cgi was inconsistent. the cameos while cool but does not really help much to progress the storyline. in fact it looks rather awkard that all cameos sort of just stare at the wormhole or something

I actually prefer the first time quicksilver appear, the "kitchen scene"

Haha i think this movie will be long forgotten when WB200 falls in 2123 We wont be around 2 witness 4 sure
