I notice after few sets of intense exercises, I rest and breathe hard to get back oxygen levels but cannot recover within 4 hours after that. Does this mean I should reduce the intensity of the exercises?

I am just learning to do some kickboxing, trying to balance on one leg while executing slow kicks with proper form. The intense part was balancing without shaking and kicking with legs straight at height above hips.

After intense exercises, I cannot continue doing anymore exercise as I lose brain focus due to light headedness which I assume is lack of oxygen to the brains and breathing hard. So I stop and heavy breathing still happened from after the exercise for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes or 1 hour, my breathing was slightly harder and I still get light headed than before exercise, this condition can last up to 4 hours.

Starting a new exercise can take a toll n body until it becomes a norm. But continuing having breathing difficulties beyond an hour doesnt seem to be right. Better to visit a doctor and check out your lung/heart.

It is not breathing difficulty, I have to breathe harder for an hour. Will monitor my HR and BP closely.

Rest well until your breath recover. Maybe try lighter weight after you recover and visit gym again.

EPOC Maybe?

EPOC is the result of an elevation in oxygen consumption and metabolism (Resting Energy Expenditure), which occurs after exercise as the body recovers, repairs, and returns to its pre-exercise state. This can happen for up to 24 hours, according to some sources.

One of the symptoms is shortness of breath after workout.

Not enough energy. Pay attention to proper diet before and immediately after kickboxing.

If you find it difficult to recover within four hours after intense exercise and feel breathless, it may be an indication that you should consider reducing the intensity of your workouts. It's important to listen to your body and give it the necessary time to adapt and recover. Gradually increase the intensity and duration of your exercises over time, and explore various recovery techniques such as proper nutrition, hydration, and rest to aid in your recovery process.

I've had similar issues after high-intensity workouts where it took hours to normalize my breathing. What helped me was adjusting the workout intensity and duration.

You pushed yourself too hard. I have been there before. Only do one set of intense workout per day. You can collapse anytime at the rate you gonna go

I found Mildronate (meldonium) beneficial for improving my recovery time and overall endurance.
