Dear Moms and Dads ,

Firstly, I am ready to be told that I am "over-thinking" it . (I probably am) ... But I still will humbly seek your advice / opinion on this. 🙏

- My kid is 8months old , and over the past 8 months , me and the wife haven't been able to sit down (as we used to) , and catch a full movie in the living room ... As we read online (Google) that it's recommended to not let children below 18months old to have any screen-time at all , other than Face-Time / Whatsapp Video Call .

- We also hope to not let him "stay-quiet" with a ipad/phone in front of him all the time, when he grows up a little more next time.

What about real-world experience?
How many of you actually let your child (below 1 year old) sit with you, or stay in the baby cot / playpen at your living room, while you/your family watch TV / movie / netflix ? .. And your kind thoughts on this matter ?

Thank you very much for your input 🙏

Heyy! Hahaha. Thank you for the bump. No worries, it's the weekend, everyone must be busy with their family/kids.. This sub-forum is not that active too.. So will just be patient. I'm sure some parents will share their experience/thoughts soon nod.gif

You definitely is over thinking LOL.

"no screen time" in the context of TV probably means not allowing babies/toddlers to watch the shows that interests them.

As parents. feel free to watch your favorite movies/shows on TV in the same room as your children/babies. I guess it's fine as long as it doesn't shock them with excessive noise or visuals . I'm sure they'll let you know by crying.

I remembered layan Chinese dramas every night after work with my month's old son lying on the crib (and later... crawling about in the living room). He didn't give a damn and barely looked at the TV.

Hi Alan, thanks for the reply and input! Great to hear.

Yeah, was discussing with the wife again, and also asked a few friends these 2 days - You're right.

Noise / visuals is probably more important or a concern, rather than watching movies / shows on TV .. Will definitely be trying our first proper movie session later this week with the baby in the playpen beside . lol ! I guess on the positive side.. We actually managed to focus our time a little more on other things, these past few months , instead of watching TV/movie .

May I ask how old is your son now? smile.gif

If the start watching their brain stop growing. Give them some time maybe lunch and dinner. That is all.
