1) hella lot of malaysians insult singaporeans all the time, probably worse too
2) it's only hurtful if you allow yourself to get hurt
3) a lot of stand-up deliberately polarises people, it's part of the act
4) they're by no means great jokes, but the response feels disproportionate
5) i'd rather a world where people can make all the jokes they want about anything in a stand-up environment, than a world where everyone is hypersensitive and so quick to cancel. and it feels like everything is a sensitive subject now, but really, it's because of WHO is defining what subjects are sensitive. nowadays, the general public is so conditioned to tiptoeing out of fear of stepping on some sensitive toes, that anything remotely non-conformist results in a pitchfork mob
6) ultimately she didn't insult me directly, just the country i'm a citizen in. i choose not to be offended, because i choose not to give those words power. that's totally in my hands. bad taste jokes aside, i think we really need to step away from the whole snowflake sensitive woke thing that those Americans have fallen headlong in, it's a deep trap designed to create opposing sides and tensions. just chill, relax, and don't get wound up over this.
