No matter how big or small u are.. the technique to ride a bike properly is the key to successfully handlng your bike..

I would say... try something like FZ150 or Ninja 150 to get the hang of the clutching system.. and then decide if easy riding or more sportier style that u prefer.. and look at your budget...

QUOTE(K.I @ Dec 18 2011, 03:01 AM)
Guys,

thinking to get one SB for my self but still in a mist on what to buy. since this will be my first bike, ( i dont even own a kapcai pun before.. tongue.gif) im thinking to get one 2nd hand bike.
my constrain here is my budget will be not more den 40k. extra 3-4k tu maybe acceptable.

since that, ive done a few study on what SB that park under my range.

1. R1 (2006 and below)
2. CBR600RR (2007 and below)
3. Kawa zx6r (2007 and below)
4. Kawa er6n@f

Need some advice from all sifus here. consider that im a 185 cm guys and might be use this bike to travel from KL-east coast. but i still have my car for that. if not, maybe as a weekend ride.
please also enlighten me on their maintenance cost.

Thanks in advance..  smile.gif

Seriously asking this?? I WONT RECOMMEND ANY OF THE BIKE ABOVE SINCE U NEVER OWN ANY BIKE BEFORE..

*sigh*

I hope you will see my point for not supporting any of ur choices...

What kind of bike u REGULARLY ride for the past 24 months? now if you say u regularly ride someone else supersport/litre bike or even something like ER6.. then I guess it shouldn't be a problem for you..

R1 is a beast.. make a mistake.. It wont hesitate to bite...

CBR600 and ZX6.. now this two is a superb bike for someone who already familiar on what gear to use during corners.. 600's are high revving machine..

ok.. ER6n/f are just nice for a beginner.. BUT only if you have a proper experience handling bikes that are generally heavy.. so my best say is that.. dont chase on the LOOKS and HOW PEOPLE LOOK AT YOU... at the end.. It is you who will be riding and if you fall.. it is you who will endure the pain... and not to forget the waste of money for repairs and recovery...

so save yourself from those unnecessary stuff and get yourself something smaller...

first.. IDENTIFY your preference.. DO u like a SPORTY riding or more like RELAX riding.. if sporty is your choice.. there are lots of bike to start with...

there are:
APRILIA RS250 (2 Stroke) (NOT IN MANUFACTURE [2nd hands only]) (RM15K + -) (3* on looks)
APRILIA RS125 (2 Stroke) (RM20k++) (4* on looks)
KAWASAKI NINJA 150 (KIPS) (2 Stroke) (RM10K + -) (3 * on looks)
KAWASAKI NINJA 250 (4 Stroke) (RM20K ++) (3.5* on looks)
NAZA BLADE (NAKED/FULL FAIRING) (V twin [4 Stroke]) (RM15K-20K + -) (3.5* on looks)
HONDA CBR250r (4 Stroke) (RM20K ++) (3* on looks)

now these bikes are what I can say a proper beginner's bike.. I myself own the 150 Ninja Kips... and it's my first bike too..

So.. ur Budget is around 40k.. well that is a very2 GOOD BUDGET... so now.. choose whether u want a sporty handling or a more Easy handling..

HONDA CBR250r is an easy riding bike.. same goes to the NAKED NAZA BLADE... so from there on.. you may progress to a bigger bike like the ER6/XJ6/MONSTER and so on..

But then.. if you want to have a feel like a racer then.. the rest of the of the bike listed are the way to go.. especially the 250's cos from there you can get yourself ready for a SUPERSPORT like the one u mentioned...

Now.. the most important thing before getting a bike is to get your gears ready too.. Now that you saved 20k from ur budget for bike.. you now may spend for riding gears like a FULL FACE HELMET... Rdiing jacket.. Riding boots.. Gloves.. well all the necessity...

Then lets talk about your long term maintenance of these bikes.. THESE BIKES are perfect for you to see how you would be spending for a bigger capacity bike..

TIRE.. this is important.. most of the bike listed above wont be equipped with a good stock tire.. so I would suggest.. the first thing you do is to change the tires.... ESPECIALLY the front tire (that is where 80% of your braking power need to be transfer on the road surface)

So dont be a cheapo when it comes to bike maintenance.. I will only suggest two brand of tire.. BRIDGESTONE BATTLAX or PIRELLI..

learn how to control your bike.. learn how to lean a bit.. learn ur body positioning.. basically equip yourself with lots of experience and then move on to a bigger bike..

So.. Good luck.. and WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF BIKES... hihi

wonder if aprillia still selling the rs 125 in malaysia...
i saw the naza the other day - looks ok - but fit and finish i dunno...it's hyosung rebadge i believe.
krr 150 is just nice for starting out (mine - the choke a bit emotional though)...
*
Aprilia RS125 I think they are still some stock left.. and maybe this year or next year is the last for it production.. do take note.. they will be replaced with the all new Aprilia RS4 which a four stroke.. but quite sad actually.. a 125 4-stroke is slow like shit... so it wont be a beast anymore..

Oh how I will miss the 2-stroke.. Watched MOTOGP Documentary (FASTER).. and see how it once rule the MOTOGP world.. but then came 4-stroke.. hehehe..

Thanks for the advice.  notworthy.gif Really appreciate that n its really open my eyes on what ill be dealing with.
Thinking of it, yes u are 100% right. This will be my first time on rideng a SB, but previously ive ride various type of bike from ex5 to Virago 250. By ride i mean for daily use before i bought a car and totally left riding activity. Yeah, all that are far to different to compare with 600cc bike in every aspect.

Virago give me some experience on riding in a fast lane and by that i want to feel how its done with a sports bike. Thats y im prefering sports type instead of easy rider or naked type.

Is CBR600 is way to much for me?  icon_question.gif

Or else i should really start with 250? This lead me to another question. How about after market services and spare part for Aprilia?

Again, thanks for the advice. Do enlighten me more. nod.gif
*
CBR600 is by far the easiest supersport bike u can ride.. but.. It is still a Monster in its own right.. It will be great for a great rider.. it will be easy for an intermediate rider.. but it wont be forgiving for a starter.. my advice is.. Stick with 250 for a year or two.. after all.. that is What US BIKERS do... we buy n sell bikes all the time.. hehe

Aprilia is Italian bike.. so.. tell me any Italian Bike or Cars that is cheap to maintain biggrin.gif

REMEMBER.. Dont Be a Cheapo to maintain ur bike...

that nsr is sure rare piece, nice deltabox & single swingarm. i think 250 2stroke of any kind is almost none existence in msia.
but back in those years, prolly 15yrs ago or so. they are almost bigbike/racebike category on the street, saw quite an amount in HK but not msia.
*
almost big bike? it is a big bike.. well at least for it's time.. 250cc 2 stroke is a monster.. remember motogp?? the 250cc is super fast.. would love to try one..

does anyone here ride naza blade 250R? how is it? recommend for others to buy? wink.gif ..

TQ ..

the R version.. it has the big bike look.. if ur trying to trick some girls.. boleh la.. wahhaa

performance wise.. not the best out there.. it's pretty heavy.. so power to weight ratio not so great... easily beaten on the track.. I think a ninja 250 would be faster...
