There is no need for such a drivers download. All the drivers and softwares you need are built into the operating system either OS9 or OSX. Get yourself and OS installation disc and you will be up and running.

PS: excluded some of 3rd party hardwares, like probably your scanner, printer and etc. Those need install the driver, if you don't have the disc, just get it online. Google is your God.

Not sure if you are trying to install MacOS X or MacOS9. If I am not mistaken, it is very likely that you will install MacOS X all drivers are built-into the OS which is like what Timber said. However, if you are trying to install MacOS 9, you need to get the OS CD specifically for iBook G3. This is speaking from my experience. You can't install MacOS 9 even with the retail version CD.

You sure or not? I have installed OS9 *ahem version* many years ago on a Ibook G3 600MHz before and no problem...

Well, as we all know, Apple has many different version of iBook and I am not sure how different it will make to the OS installation.

My experience is with my 2nd-hand iBook G3 700 where I have to dupe the CD from a reliable source to install MacOS 9. Prior to that I tried using the *ahem version* and it failed to complete the installation. So now (if not mistaken) my MacOS 9 is v9.2.2 or v9.2.3 - can't confirm this as too lazy to power up the iBook now.

of course... when you use *ahem* versions... all you need is one file wrongly copied... and there goes the system.

seriously dudes, restoring a computer system, using an unreliable source isn't a good idea.

normally, when someone buys a used Mac, I'd recommend the original restore discs are included, for this reason.

if the discs are lost, then ask for a discount.

Totally agree with you! Unfortunately, when you buy 2nd hand Apple, it seem very likely that the original disc is not part of the deal. Perhaps many of us thought that a missing MacOS CD can be easily replaced with *ahem*. The other possibility might also because MacOS is too stable for reinstallation. So after a very long time, the owner never use the CD and misplace it.

Shouldn't be a problem. However, the farthest I went was popping in the installation DVD and my iBook G3 is able to boot up with 10.4 installer. Never went beyond that I am happy with MacOS X 10.3. Also, is your iBook able to handle MacOS X 10.4? This is my concern too that stopped me for going further.

I suppose it depends on which revision G3 ibook you have as well. For instance, I wouldn't even wanna run OS X 10.4 on my iBook G3 300Mhz... so those are the things you might want to consider. An earlier version of OS X would be more prudent for performance reasons.

My ibook still at friend there, now running Mac OS 10.2. Just wanna make sure that whether Mac OS 10.4 compatible or not before format it. Market got sell pirated Mas OS software?

well. in your case, you should upgrade RAM to at least 768 before upgrading to Tiger. I've run Tiger on 256MB RAM, and it wasn't fun.

if you can't do that, then try to run 10.3 (Panther) which is quite quick on anything above 256MB, even at 700MHz

I think for his model he already maxed out it's ram capacity. A friend of mine installed OS 10.4 on his G3 iBook before, if not mistaken a 700MHz as well not it ran without much problem. He used it for quite sometime before getting a MacBook. And of course he installed it with the *ahem* version. But that iBook has made him a Apple convert today and busy evangelizing the Mac gospel everywhere.
