⚡️ Russian Defence Ministry report on the progress of the special military operation

(28 September 2023)

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation.

▫️ In Donetsk direction, units of the Yug Group of Forces, in close cooperation with aviation and artillery, repelled two attacks by AFU 53rd, 110th mechanised brigades' assault groups near Pervomayskoye and southwestern of Veseloye (Donetsk People's Republic).

The enemy's losses totalled up to 190 Ukrainian servicemen killed and wounded, as well as 11 motor vehicles.

Also, one Grad MLRS, one U.S.-made M777 artillery system, two D-20 howitzers, and one Msta-B howitzer were hit during counter-battery warfare.

▫️ In Zaporozhye direction, units of the Russian Group of Forces supported by aviation and artillery launched attacks at AFU 65th mechanised, 82nd air assault brigades close to Rabotino and northwestern of Verbovoye (Zaporozhye region).

Up to 45 Ukrainian personnel, one U.S.-manufactured Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, two armoured fighting vehicles, and three motor vehicles were neutralised.

In addition, one D-30 howitzer, one Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, and one U.S.-made M119 howitzer were hit during counter-battery warfare.

▫️ In South Donetsk direction, the Vostok Group of Forces' units, Ground-Attack Aviation and helicopters improved the frontline situation and repelled two attacks of AFU assault groups close to Priyutnoye (Zaporozhye region).

The enemy's casualties were up to 105 Ukrainian personnel killed and wounded, two armoured fighting vehicles, and five motor vehicles.

In addition, one AFU sabotage and reconnaissance group of the AFU 110th Territorial Defence Brigade was destroyed north of Priyutnoye (Zaporozhye region).

▫️ In Krasny Liman direction, professional actions of units of the Tsentr Group of Forces, aviation, helicopters and artillery repelled one attack of the AFU 63rd Mechanised Brigade's assault group close to Chervonaya Dibrova (Lugansk People's Republic).

AFU 21th and 63rd mechanised brigades' units have been hit near Torskoye and Yampolovka (Donetsk People's Republic).

The total losses of the enemy amounted to 60 Ukrainian servicemen, two armoured fighting vehicles, and two D-30 howitzers.

▫️ In Kupyansk direction, aviation and artillery of the Zapad Group of Forces inflicted fire damage on manpower and hardware of the 14th, 32nd mechanised, and 25th Air Assault Brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine close to Zagoruikovka, Timkovka (Kharkov region) and Stelmakhovka (Lugansk People's Republic).

Up to 50 Ukrainian troops and two motor vehicles have been neutralised.

In counter-battery warfare one U.S.-made M777 artillery system, one U.S.-made M109 Paladin self-propelled artillery system, one Msta-B howitzer, and one Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system were destroyed.

One ammunition depot of the AFU 1st Special Operations Brigade was destroyed close to Ogurtsovo (Kharkov region).

◽️ In Kherson direction, up to 20 Ukrainian servicemen, two motor vehicles, and one D-30 howitzer have been neutralised by fire.

Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces have engaged AFU manpower and hardware in 118 areas during the day.

In addition, the 62nd ammunition arsenal of the Army has been hit near Bogdanovka (Kirovograd region).

A command and observation post of the AFU 54th Mechanised Brigade was eliminated close to Fyodorovka (Donetsk People's Republic).

Fighter aviation of Russian Aerospace Forces has shot down one Su-25 ground-attack aircraft of Ukrainian Air Force near Toretskoye (Donetsk People's Republic).

Air defence forces have intercepted four HIMARS and Olkha MLRS projectiles during the day.

In addition, 26 unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed during the day near Berestovoye, Kodema, Novopetrikovka (Donetsk People's Republic), Samoylovka, Novoye (Zaporozhye region).

📊 In total, 480 airplanes and 250 helicopters, 7,217 unmanned aerial vehicles, 438 air defence missile systems, 12,206 tanks and other armoured combat vehicles, 1,156 combat vehicles equipped with MLRS, 6,571 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 13,573 units of special military equipment have been destroyed during the special military operation.

Attempt to break through by recon groups in the Bryansk region

On the evening of September 29, news appeared about an attempt to violate the state border of the Russian Federation in the Bryansk region. A number of sources wrote about a group of 50 people, some about 10. Such a spread is explainable: there were most likely two attempts and, accordingly, the recon groups.

Kherson direction: battles in the island zone of the Dnieper

🔻 In the island zone of the Dnieper, Ukrainian tactical groups (TG) continue to gain a foothold on the islands and on the left bank. TG units “Normandy” and “Grom” rotated forward groups on Alekseevsky and Aleshkinsky islands.

The main events took place on Kozatsky Island, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces began to set up positions on the river bed. However, a Russian reconnaissance group carried out a successful raid on Kozatsky , taking two people prisoner.

The rest of the 131st reconnaissance battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces fled to the northern part of the island and took up all-round defense. The evacuation group transferred reinforcements by boat, and on the way back to Nikolaevka it was sunk by artillery.

🔻 The activity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the islands against the backdrop of strengthening the group of troops in this direction is not surprising. By the time the Marine Corps is deployed to cross the Dnieper, the Ukrainian Armed Forces should have a solid foothold on the left bank.

(24–29 September 2023)

▫️ In the period from 24 to 29 September 2023, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation carried out nine group strikes by long-range precision weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles.

▫️ The strikes hit ammunition depots, military-technical hardware of the AFU, saboteurs' training sites, and accommodation points for Ukrainian servicemen and foreign mercenaries.

▫️ As a result of the strikes, the control centre of the International Legion formation, two large arsenals with weapons and ammunition were destroyed, and the supply of foreign-made weapons and logistical support for Ukrainian troops operating in Donetsk and Zaporozhye directions were disrupted.

▫️ In Donetsk direction, during the week the enemy continued to attempt offensive actions close to Artemovsk, Avdeevka, and Marinka (Donetsk People's Republic).

▫️ Over the past week, units of the Yug Group of Forces have repelled 31 attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in this area.

▫️ As a result of the fighting, the enemy lost more than 1,760 Ukrainian troops killed and wounded, 40 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, as well as 70 motor vehicles.

▫️ In counter-battery warfare, 13 field artillery pieces and two Grad multiple rocket launchers were neutralised.

▫️ In addition, ground-attack aircraft destroyed two ammunition depots near Zvanovka and Zarya (Donetsk People's Republic).

▫️ In order to make up for the significant losses of manpower during the failed assaults on Kleshcheyevka and Andreevka (Donetsk People's Republic), the AFU command was forced to redeploy units of the 33rd, 67th and 110th mechanised brigades from other directions.

▫️ In Zaporozhye direction, the Russian troops continue to conduct active defence, during which they repelled eight attacks launched by assault groups of the 65th Mechanised and 71st Jaeger brigades of the AFU close to Vebovoye and Rabotino (Zaporozhye region) during the past week.

▫️ In the areas of Malaya Tokmachka, Orekhov, and Novodanilovka (Zaporozhye region), the 21st, 23rd, and 118th mechanised brigades of the AFU defeated clusters of enemy manpower and hardware.

▫️ During the fighting, the enemy's losses amounted to more than 330 Ukrainian troops, 32 armoured fighting vehicles, 38 motor vehicles, and 25 field artillery pieces.

▫️ The AFU Command is currently withdrawing the 47th Mechanised Brigade of the AFU from the area of Rabotino (Zaporozhye region) to the rear area due to the fact that servicemen are refusing to carry out combat tasks because of the losses they have suffered.

▫️ In South Donetsk direction, Russian units repelled four attacks launched by units of the 127th Territorial Defence Brigade in the vicinity of Priyutnoye (Zaporozhye region), during the aforementioned period.

▫️ In addition, air strikes and artillery fire struck clusters of AFU manpower and hardware.

▫️ During the week, the enemy's losses totalled over 750 Ukrainian troops killed and wounded, 22 armoured fighting vehicles, 37 motor vehicles, and 15 field artillery pieces.

▫️ Also, two AFU sabotage and reconnaissance groups were neutralised near Marfopol (Zaporozhye region).

▫️ In Kupyansk direction, the Zapad Group of Forces used air strikes and artillery fire to hit the manpower and hardware of the 25th Airborne, 14th, 43rd, and 92nd mechanised brigades of the AFU near Sinkovka, Peschanoye, Cherneshchina, and Novolyubovka (Kharkov region).

▫️ In this direction, the enemy has lost over 210 Ukrainian troops, five armoured fighting vehicles, 30 motor vehicles, as well as 13 field artillery pieces.

▫️ In addition, four ammunition depots of the AFU were destroyed near Berestovoye, Kislovka, and Ogurtsovo (Kharkov region).

▫️ In Krasny Liman direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces using the 12th Special Forces Brigade, the 63rd and 67th Mechanized Brigades made unsuccessful attempts to regain lost positions near Torskoye (Donetsk People's Republic) and Serebryansky forestry.

▫️ As a result of competent action by units of the Tsentr Group of Forces, air strikes, artillery fire, and heavy flamethrowers, 12 enemy attacks were repelled.

▫️ Ukrainian Armed Forces losses for the week amounted to more than 360 Ukrainian troops, 20 armoured fighting vehicles, 20 motor vehicles, as well as 12 guns.

▫️ In Kherson direction, the main efforts were focused on preventing the enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups from landing on the islands and the left bank of the Dnepr. As part of this task, three AFU sabotage and reconnaissance groups were disabled.

▫️ Up to 250 Ukrainian servicemen, 16 armoured fighting vehicles and 42 motor vehicles were destroyed during the week.

▫️ Seven field artillery pieces were hit during the counter-battery warfare.

▫️ The Russian Aerospace Forces have destroyed five warplanes of the Ukrainian Air Force in a week.

▫️ One Ukrainian Su-25 ground-attack aircraft was shot down near Toretskoye (Donetsk People's Republic).

▫️ Two Mig-29 fighter jets of the Ukrainian Air Force have been destroyed at the Dolgintsevo airfield, Dnepropetrovsk region.

▫️ In addition, on the night of 29 September, two more Mig-29 fighter jets delivered from Poland and upgraded to use Western missile weapons were eliminated at the Kulbakino airfield, Nikolayev region

▫️ One Mi-8 helicopter of the Ukrainian Air Force was also shot down by means of air defence near Kleshcheevka (Donetsk People's Republic).

US lawmakers approve government funding bill without aid for Ukraine
Now, the initiative must be approved by the Senate 😆

WASHINGTON, September 30. /TASS/. The US House of Representatives approved a draft government funding bill for 45 days, which does not include aid to Ukraine.

The bill was supported by 335 lawmakers, with 91 voting against. Now, the initiative must be approved by the Senate. Then, it will be forwarded to US President Joe Biden, who will need to sign it before midnight (07 AM Moscow time on October 1) in order to avoid the federal government shutdown.

Previously, the Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) claimed that his party will block the Senate initiative on extension of the federal government funding until November 17, which provides for about $6 billion for Ukraine. After that, majority leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said that there will be no vote no this initiative and, instead, the Senate will wait for the House version.

A government shutdown may lead to suspension of salaries, forced unpaid vacation or dismissal of hundreds of thousands of officials, as well as suspension of multiple state programs.

Russian reconnaissance means discovered a loading point of a train carrying armored vehicles of the 38th Marine Brigade, intended for reinforcement of Ukrainian forces on the contact line, the Russian Defense Ministry said

MOSCOW, October 1. /TASS/. The Russian Armed Forces destroyed a Marine brigade train loading post in the Nikolay Region with a missile strike, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"Russian reconnaissance means discovered a loading point of a train carrying armored vehicles of the 38th Marine Brigade, intended for reinforcement of Ukrainian forces on the contact line. Target coordinates were promptly forwarded to the ground-based missile crew, which carried out a precision strike. The strike resulted in the loading point destroyed," the Ministry said, publishing video footage of the strike.

According to the Ministry, the brigade in question was the 72nd Mechanized Brigade.

"The ground-based missile strike resulted in destruction of automobile vehicles, weapons, ammunition and enemy personnel," the Defense Ministry said.
