please consider a samsung. the camera is decently good for the price. also the software can be updated for as long as 5 years so that's a real advantage over any other android phones out there.

Best camera for your budget is used flagship like Google pixel. Most cheap phones have very bad cameras apart from Samsung. But still used flagship is the best

If Samsung, avoid A or M models as the cameras sucks or lags.

I have the A72 and camera tend to lags from time to time. Ended up using my old Note 10+ for camera only. All pics sync to the cloud.

Tagging this but not replying to you but the OP.

If buying a gift for your sister, don't be a cheapskate and buy 2nd hand. If you are buying for yourself, that should be alright. You wouldn't know the condition of the unit if it's used by another person.

FWIW my 1.5 year old niece likes to grab anything in the house and throw them on the floor despite several warnings. The mobile phone was thrown many times and fortunately it is still in one piece and working. You wouldn't know, after buying a used phone it fails to function within 1 or 2 months. Better buy new even though it's a lower spec model than 2nd hand higher range model where it's a lot riskier.

I recommend OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G (RM1099), they came with Snapdragon 6XX CPU, 8GB Ram and 256GB Storage. Camera is good and near vanilla android OS. Try search up

What you say is true. Just to add, if buying gifts for loved ones, nobody would buy 2nd hand stuff as gifts. It is just not right. Just like in the movies when the boyfriend buys a gift for the girlfriend, the gift will just end up in the dustbin if the person finds out it's not new but used by someone else before. It just shows insincerity from a person when buying a 2nd hand item to be given away as a present, and it won't be appreciated by the recipient not only loved ones but friends as well.

depends. i bought used pixel 2 for bibik using her own money in 2020 coz she dont know which one is better for little budget and she's loving every second of it till now. of course i disclosed to her it's a used unit but she dont mind. its her 1st phone with whatsapp so she can video call her family in indonesia. the phone is still in use till today.

another case is my wife, i bought her a used Galaxy S10 pink flamingo back in 2021 and she likes it so much and its still in use today. it looks so new till when i go to shop to have glass sp installed, the shop asked 'is this new?'. the phone performed very well as well and last year i bought her 512GB micro sd coz the 128gb internal is getting full with photos of our newborn.

sorry guys i am not rich, i also use a used Galaxy S10e myself. i'm just happy to know that people i know loved the phone given to them despite it being 2nd hand. for me, its important for the phone to be flagship, so can have full features. but not new coz too expensive. so i settle with 2nd hand.

Bro, don't need to apologise. As you have aptly mentioned, as long as your wife or whoever can accept a used phone as a gift, then that is all that matters. For me, I surely will not buy 2nd hand item as gifts, that's for sure. For me, I would surely pick a new lower range phone than 2nd hand higher spec phone. Everyone has their own priorities so it's fine.

I think the most important factor is you notify the person first if he/she is willing to accept a used phone or any 2nd hand item as a gift. I'm sure you can only ask your own family members such as your wife or kids if they can accept 2nd hand stuff but not friends. Gifts should be new and not used.

I do not have any specific recommendation, but for scanning documents, top end phones with large sensor and aperture would have issues doing this perfectly because of shallower depth of field.

For family members, if they can accept it then it's fine. If you buy 2nd hand phone or other gifts for your friends, you will just leave a bad impression to them even if it's a flagship. Although buying used 2nd hand flagship may appear to be a better choice than buying new lower model, giving 2nd hand stuff as gifts signify cheapskate to me and people won't appreciate it. Your wife or family members may appreciate it but others like my family members will surely not. I can't imagine getting 2nd hand stuff as gifts even for my family not to mention friends. But it's fine as everyone is different and has different priorities and ways of living. It's not a question of being rich or not as one can still buy new low or mid-end phones if he/she can't afford the higher priced models up to say RM5k or more. It's a choice that one makes.

Like I said earlier, it's fine if one is buying 2nd hand phone for personal use but gifts to be given away to other people indicates cheapskate. Sorry but that's my opinion.
