Hi guys, couple of weeks ago I felt a sharp pain in my abdominal area radiating to the back. Went to hospital, did a CT scan & was diagnosed with pancreatitis. Got admitted and they did an endoscopy. Endoscopy came out clear, with no gallstones detected.

Stayed in hospital for 2 days while being on antibiotics and IV drip. Was feeling better and got discharged. The whole of last week from Mon till Thursday I was feeling like normal but last Friday the abdominal pain started again, up until now. Pain is even sharper today.

Wonder if anyone here ever experienced acute pancreatitis? How long did it take to get completely like normal?
I don't know if I should go to hospital again. There's no real cure for pancreatitis. The only thing they can do is hook me up to IV drips to better manage it.

Thanks.

The COVID-19 vaccines may lead to acute pancreatitis. The mechanism of pancreatitis caused by COVID-19 vaccines is unclear. Acute pancreatitis can develop after COVID-19 vaccination. This process can even happen a few months later. Therefore, to better diagnosis and prevention of long-term complications, it is necessary to measuring the lipase or amylase in patients that received COVID-19 vaccine if abdominal pain was occurred.

are you stressed? then control your stress, you could start doing deep breathing regularly.
this is my experience as someone who had chronic inflammation, any part of body can get inflamed, now very good, pain reduced significantly, white blood count is normal.

stress is something that our immunity system could not handle.

Sorry to hear about your condition.

Avoid solid food for the time being. It should get better in a week or two.

one time only, when suspected asthma attack. usually i will just manage with curcumin by taking daily or ibuprofen/diclofenac when needed.
doctor said rheumatoid arthritis and lupus is highly unlikely, so yeah, they just put placeholder 'chronic inflammation' diagnosis.

PM me your blood works taken the other day.

More or less ruled out surgical causes with i assume an EUS the other day, you should go to the ED for at least a bedside usg scan and an erect chest xray along with relevant bloods ie amylase, calcium, lipids blood gases and urine diastase.

Usually a patient with resolved pancreatitis may come back with a recurrence and/ or complications ie walled off necrosis/ pseudo cysts.

Severe panc if diagnosed warrants icu referral yo

Diverticulitis or perforated intestine or both at the same time?

Because they’re not the same and management is different.
I would assume that your had a diverticular bleed and was diagnosed via a colonoscopy.

Because if you had a perforated intestine you would have to go for a laparotomy

My mother had it. Took her gall bladder out. Okay for a few years, but never back to 100%. She had the trifecta- high sugar, high blood, high cholesterol, so it wasn't just the pancreatitis. Her health deteriorated back again, towards the end, she felt pain in her stomach again, doctor suspect recurrence. Surgery was risky because of the trifecta, plus she was on warfarin.

Ah my bad. I was reading an article about diverticulitis and COVID vaccine and the word perforated keep on appearing until I forgot that perforated mean a hole has appeared instead of just pockets of diverticulitis. Haiya.

This thread is why you dont ask for medical advices on a tech based bulletin board.

So many people got it wrong, i dont even know where to start.

The only relevant advice for ts is, go back to your doctor if private, go to kk/ed and state your admission history.

any high carb diet can further aggravate the cause of this...

there is not actual meds to treat pancreatitis...it needs your own pancrease to heal itself....

i never had one, but hope never will....becoz, it's high chance to go cyst/tumor if the inflammation if not stopped...
can't breakdown nutrients..so, body becomes lacking...and immune system can be compromised , i believe.

so, watch your diet, and exercise (but since you having an attack ....you should not be doing rigorous exercises).

hope the causes are found soon, and you get better TS.

gallstones can also be quickly checked via ultrasound...(unless small stones), which if require to take out the ESWL is one method to use.... less invasive..

take care .

Bro.. Many pipu in malaysia eat high carbs diet also no pancreatitis. Everywhere. Its actually gluten causing leaky gut and immune attacking the pancrease (autoimmune pancreatitis).

Cucuke theory does make sense more though.

In addition, severe and important complications such as unilateral optic neuritis [11], autoimmune encephalitis [12,13], Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) [14], Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura [15], cerebral venous thrombosis [16] have been reported with the injection of inactivated COVID-19 vaccine (especially with Sinopharm BIBP and Sinovac).

Is this thread real purpose is to attack Sinopharm and Sinovac vaccines blaming it for rise of pancreatitis causes?

The thing is I was admitted in KPJ, but there really wasn't much they could do except hook me up to IV drips. Apparently that's the only thing you can do to help resolve pancreatitis.

Thanks, I don't think my diet is really high carb.
I'm not sure if alcohol if a factor. I drink but only bi-weekly. Will go to some pub/bar and have max 4-5 half pints of beer.
If this caused the pancreatitis then memang sial lah. Drink bi-weekly also can kena, sigh.

you didnt even consider stress is the cause? please dont ignore that possibility. people that have antiimmune disorder here will tell you that stress can make their disease flare up.

Pancreas get inflammed, then pushing the stomach..
Then u will get reflux and gerd.. if uncontrolled.. the gerd will result in ENT issue and infection.. and body aching here n there due to swollen lymph node..

U are having such?

For me..
I only eat everything cooked.. water dont drink from filter.. get it boiled.
Outside punya ice cube pls avoid.

When they did the endoscopy 2 weeks ago, doctor said I got gerd and reflux issue. Swollen lymph node? no wonder, that explains why my feet are aching lately.

You taking pantoprazole for your acid reflux.
Doctor gave me that 2 weeks ago, have to take for 1 month. But I stopped taking after 3 days. Was giving me watery stools.
