Currently using Maxis Prepaid and would like to switch to Digi Prepaid without changing number.
I had quite high balance on Maxis around RM280.
Will my balance remain after switching or it will burn?
What about verification for certain website/apps using the same number? Does Telco switch have any effect on it even maintaining the same number?

It will burn unfortunately unless if you change to Maxis Postpaid. It will be credited as excess payment.

to minimalize the burn, sell it via Share-A-Top-Up via app.
fee is 50sen per transfer, max rm100/transaction.
u can sell example rm20 for rm30 to 9 buyers (rm30.50 x9 = 274.50 so balance is 5.50 ok lah to burn)

verification wont effect as long as the new telco can received sms.
in ur case its digi so should be ok (some mvno might get issue then need to call to fix it).

buy vouchers via app , share to family members or sell it to colleague.

1) Go use some of the e-vouchers in the Rewards section, this will use up the credit quickly and at the same time you enjoy it.
2) Buy the most expensive data plan, such as 18Mbps data plan with Sooka pass, for RM 85.

Unfortunatelty Hotlink doesnt have validity extension whereby you can buy validity when your credit expires.

if you are leaving maxis completely, then gift the credit to wife and gf. Rm100 for wife. Rm180 for gf.
