It has been reported that Spider-Man Trilogy on Blu-ray, will show a movie image icon & the film title on the XMB. thumbup.gif Just like Blu-ray game icon display on XMB, minus the wallpaper. tongue.gif

Blu-ray organic dye colors mass production possibilities

Blu-ray has long been wrist-slapped for being the more expensive HD format to produce. Despite that, Pioneer and Mitsubishi have trusted themselves and worked towards a better tomorrow ... so to speak. These two companies have finally made a breakthrough in commercializing recordable Blu-ray discs with an organic dye in the recording layer. This dye is apparently what will make manufacturing Blu-ray discs so cheap. Go figure.

The standardization of this dye basically means that mass production of the discs is possible which would drive costs into the ground -- the same facilities for DVD-R and CD-R are now open to Blu-ray discs. We could see the price of Blu-ray discs themselves fall sooner than expected, though on the consumer side of things, we'll probably still be charged the premium for an HD movie and such. Still, good to know progress is being made!

Hmm.. after this price for BD might be cheaper..... yatta....

Whether it's winter and you hope to escape the frosty cold outside or you want to spend a cozy evening with your family, Fireplace is the next best thing to a real fire. Its visual appeal in High Definition gives your home a welcoming atmosphere. It's also a great way to add a feeling of genuine comfort to any home or apartment. Fireplace is shot on film and brought to you in High Definition which brings out all the rich hues and dancing shadows of a real wood fire. Listen to the crackling sounds of the fire or Dolby TrueHD music as you watch the heart-warming Fireplace on Blu-ray.

Resident Evil Trilogy Announced for Blu-ray

Sony Pictures Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring all three Resident Evil films to Blu-ray in a 3-pack trilogy on January 2nd. Also announced for release on that same date, is 'Resident Evil', the first film in the trilogy. Being that it will also be a part of the trilogy, we expect the third film, 'Resident Evil: Extinction' to be released on that day as well. The second film, 'Resident Evil: Apocalypse' was previously released on Blu-ray.

No specs have been announced at this time.
