The exterior is nice but is just a 2wd..... Why dont make it a 4wd?

Another thing is that old vitara have problem of fuel sucking engine and bouncy problem. Do this have it too?

Maybe they came out with the 2WD version. For those who don't need offroad ability of 4WD.

Like the Isuzu D-Max, eventhough it's a pick-up, has 2WD & 4WD variant.

my uncle own one.. the 4wd version, nice interior, nice exterior, quality feel 2 everything, leather seats feels classy too.. spacious inside, comfortable, but a bit of a petrol sucker.. i guess wit this 2wd version, its gonna improve on that aspect.. but, its not really nice 2 drive, n do bear in mind that its resell value is quite bad too.. but overall, its a good car.. if ure looking for an urban suv, this is worth considering.. the price is really intriguing for an suv, n i really like the looks of it.. its reasonably well equipped, n wit only 2wd, i guess it wont be as thirsty as its 4wd brother..

eh... that photo looks like the previous version of Grand Vitara..
Hmm... RM109,900... pretty steep if you ask me but its fully import I guess...

the specs are 2.0 liter DOHC J20A engine that produces 138 horsepower at 5,900rpm and 183Nm of torque at 4,300rpm, mated to a 4-speed automatic gearbox and it sounds like a guzzler to me. A 1.6 2-door Grand Vitara does 400-450+ km for RM80-RM90. Imagine what a 2.0 would do... hehe

i still cant believe that theyre selling this for that price.. coz i really like the 4wd version one.. makes me wonder, how much equipment that they have taken out 2 be able 2 put that price tag on hmm.gif im guessing that it no more has keyless ignition, no leather seats, no 6 disc in dash cd changer, etc..

but, if im looking for an suv, i would dehinitely consider this..

add to to that.... wait about 7 months.

what is not there is no more keyless entry, no leather, 16" instead of 17", 2 vs 6 airbags, the spare wheel cover is anonymous and of cuz 2WD instead 4WD.

what's new... better HUD now with MP3 playback.

read a SG review earlier this year... if you are not looking for any off road adventure, this is a no brainer. Better performance, smoother and cheaper compared to the 4WD version.

i can live without the keyless ignition, i think its rubbish anyway.. i think i can live without the 17's as well.. but the leather is nice, n the 6 airbags is kinda keeping at a peace of mind when im on the road..

thats quite a lot of stuff they took out.. no wonder its 30 grand cheaper sweat.gif

these types of car the 4wd is useless offroad (no high-low range gearing) mostly for better handling during err rain ? , but 4wd when driving through minor floods is a big help though tongue.gif

actually dude, the 4wd grand vitara does.. n its quite good off road, trust me, ive tried it.. of coz, not as good as a range rover, but its much much better that wat we would expect from modern urban suv's these days..

yeah.. the thing i really love bout this car is the exclusivity.. its really really rare on the road of our country, n it looks really nice actually.. i used 2 prefer the rav4 in this suv segment, but after seeing the grand vitara, i fell in love wit it instead..

one more thing, i juz heard recently that my uncle juz sold off his sad.gif pity, coz i didnt get 2 spend much time behind the wheels of that car..

Seriously, I notice d most challenging terrain most SUV n 4WD in cities r d multi-level car park and minor flash floods (1ft+-). All d vehicle needs is just better ground clearence. I'm speakin of this based on my experice in driving a Mit.Storm in Klang Valley n d once a while drive up Genting (2WD in Auto all d way).

I find d argument of 4wd ability on slippery/winding roads r merely rubbish. With d amount of body roll even during normal cornering, the driver should b smart enuf to noe the vehicles limits.

Also, a full time 2wd really helps in reducing maintenece, servicing n fc. Just ask d 2wd owners of Hilux, Ranger, D-MAX or d limited Storm.

Interesting this is. I'm looking for a new car end of this year, and I had listed Mazda 3 1.6L as a contender, but seeing this Grand Vitara going for around that price, I'm very tempted. Last time when I saw it launched about few years ago, the price was something I can't afford but now with the 2WD variant, this in interesting!

Would 2.0 on the Grand Vitara underpowered ar? Compared to Mazda 3 1.6L, which one is faster off the block?

ps. dun mentioned the lancer, IMO, it's very beng, sorry! tongue.gif

not everybody has that kinda thinking dude.. some people prefer suv's than cars.. some people like the high drving position that an suv offers.. some like the carrying capacity of an suv, although they only have 5 seats, but the suspension is designed to cope wit more weight than cars.. i know this, a friend of mine is a serious bowler, travels around a lot 2 play in tournaments all over.. n wit full 5 people in the car u wouldnt wanna carry 3 more bowling balls wit all the kits n also clothes n stuff.. jahanam laa suspension!! an suv is better suited for the job.. so dude, not everybody has the same thinkin as u, n not everybody has the same requirements as u..

I can tell you that the 1.6L feels a bit underpowered. Then again, I'm comparing it to my 2.0 Alfa. sweat.gif I've seen the 2.0L Grand Vitara zoom along the highway overtaking me on a 3-door 1.6L Grand Vitara though (travelling faster than 140km/h). So, compared to the Mazda, I believe the Mazda 3 would best the Vitara... after all, they're both different classes of car.

some models probably limited... you rarely see any (older) 3-door Grand Vitara in Malaysia as it is, compared to the (much older) 3-door Vitara which seem to be HOT these past 2 years. I see a lot of them (3-door Vitara, not Grand Vitara) in the roads in Johor and KL/PJ. My guess is that the engine is really reliable. smile.gif

I called up Suzuki to get some interest rates.

At 90% MOF, 2.38% for 7 years, 2.5% for 5 y ears. Of course subject to applicant's credit record.

Interesting!!!

I've owned this Vitara for 2 weeks now, and I'm quite happy with it. Feels nice, the ride is nice and 3 years free service.

But just one thing that troubles me... A LOT. It's about the fuel consumption.

Yeah I know it's an SUV, 2.0 liter, and it's bigger than Toyota Rush. But RM50 for only 100+ km is frickin mad! Just to tell you guys that I've been travelling about 500km for this week, and I've pumped RM200 for it! (full tank of 56 liter GV is about RM100 for RON95, RM140 for RON97), whereas it should go more than that. I've managed to control my right foot to 10km/liter since there's the fuel economy display below the meter gauge. So it should go for about 560 km in a full tank. But that's not happened to me at all. It's like I'm doing 5km/liter the whole time. I've experienced driving MPVs, cars with higher displacement, but this GV is really a fuel guzzler. And it's not 4WD!

I've talked to my SA and he told me, "Of course la FC is high, it's 2.0 and it's an SUV!" WTF!? But not this high!

And he said, "You have to control your right foot more la." Is 45 km/h is not enough?? Do I need to drive like a lorry sampah or a bulldozer?

I really do think there's something wrong with my Vitara. There's no oil leaking, no problem with the engine when I went to my first service... If this is the true nature of the GV then I need to put the NGV. I can't cope with RM200 per week just for a petrol. That's totally insane sad.gif

I've owned this Vitara for 2 weeks now, and I'm quite happy with it. Feels nice, the ride is nice and 3 years free service.

But just one thing that troubles me... A LOT. It's about the fuel consumption.

Earlier this week I've pumped RON97 at BHP, and I reseted the trip meter. Guess what? 450km! WTF??? That's even worse than my dad's Citroen Evasion which is bigger and heavier. I'm really not sure wether it's just me or it is normal for GV. I heard from other GV users that the FC is fine.

Now I really need an NGV. sad.gif

me too considering SUV(80% city, 20% on those road like off-road,lubang sini dan sana)

Still CRV the best bed based on the feedback. Even it is 30k more... or look for 2yrs CRV with similar price.

wondering is Grand Vitara worth it to buy comparing the current market, eg cx5, sportage etc...
