Yeah, like a fool I let the software update install Battery Update 1.3.
Now my MBP's battery is totally screwed up. It shuts itself off even if there is
50% of battery remaining.

Still waiting for a fix from apple.
A warning to all of y'all to read the support forums before install mac-breaking updates like this.

Thanks for sharing, but what exactly does it do? I've just went to Apple update and it seems that it fixes battery firmware for 15" MBP .. what MBP you've? I'm surely reluctant to update mine too .. any more info on the update?

If you have AppleCare, call up Apple and ask them for a new battery biggrin.gif

I didn't know the Update would cause the batt to malfunction !! I wonder if it could be the update but I think mine was oredi problematic before the update !!! Ah well.......

@tishaban,
I should I should! Damn.. what's AppleCare number now?! Nm.. I'll google for it - faster smile.gif

I'm on my first battery replacement .. usually running on battery when I'm on mobile (not at home). Just give them a call and if yours not under the replacement, bring it to the service centre (I went to VXR Tech) and get a free replacement (as long as your MBP is under warranty)

Okay, I found out that the problem is software, not hardware that's one thing for sure. This is from reading the support forums as well as trying the battery out on my friends laptop. Still gives a pretty respectable 2:30 watching dvds.
Now i've to wait for apple to release a damn firmware update.

Don't assume it's the update that's the problem, most likely the update "revealed" the actual condition of the battery, which you may not realize before. What happened to your battery simply means your battery is not as it should be, go get a replacement.

My itchy hand made me download the latest update, my battery capacity has increased from 5540mAh yesterday to 5574mAh after running the updater but somehow, airport process went skyrocketing high.. no idea if the updater did something to the airport process.. but killed it and cpu usage went back to normal.

@tishaban,
AppleCare wasn't too much help and I had to call twice! And no, I didn't demand for the free t-shirt U wanted *grins* though I did tell mention it was ridiculous the amount of time I'd been put on hold !! *hAHahHAhaHAha* Anyhow, I was told to visit my nearest Apple Service Centre or something to get the batt checked and replaced if technician found it to be defective - uGh.. and I was hoping to safe myself a trip to the store! sad.gif

Ah well, and my laptop shutdown on me at a 70% charge load this afternoon *siGh* but this prob has nothing to do with my battery problem; but the firmware as mentioned smile.gif
