Already more than 10 weeks I have submitted all documents to cpf in person, till now money still not in and nowhere to check the progress. Cpf really good in getting money but not releasing money.
*
How long to process CPF closure

Average time for in person submission is 10 weeks, then additional 4 weeks on top of that as they say there's too many applications.
Online application is 6+4 weeks.

I've submitted mine 6 weeks ago online, still no news either.

The worst thing is there is nowhere to check the progress....

Yeah I'm guessing current status is "in progress", next status will be "approved". Big gap in between with no small updates sweat.gif

Problem is we can't even see whether it is in progress, approved or rejected or whatsoever because no where we can check...CPF really did a bad job on this. Not even a single email is sent to us after we submit the application to confirm everything....
*
I think they'll only contact you if there's any issues with your application, don't think there's any reason for rejection since it's open to all now.

Also I did mine online, I got an immediate reply the next day saying I'm missing info on 2 pages. Resubmitted and they said looks good and their guys will process it. I'm guessing if you did it in person they would double check to make sure no missing info.

Can't wait for it to be approved though smile.gif

if its still no news, then please email them. they will respond and check if you require to go down. its the same for my case, waited 6 weeks, email them for status, then only CPF said need to go down to singapore. wasting time only for online application.

I am not sure how interest is calculated. do we still earn dividend on the last day of withdrawal, or on the day of closing. if it takes 14 weeks to close, afraid u might lose 14 weeks of dividend. which is quite some money with yield closing 4 %
*
I think my case might be a bit different as I used singpass to submit so don't require a witness. Also can't use the online form for Malaysians as I don't currently live in Malaysia.

QUOTE(ynlowl @ Jul 11 2023, 11:28 AM)
according to CPF staff, after account closure is done they will calculate and pay the interest year to date before release your CPF.
*
Oh that's awesome. I thought we'd be missing out on the interest since it's only paid in Dec.

From what I know, PR doesn't have "expiry date". It's the REP that allows a PR to enter Sgp as PR. If REP expires when you are outside of Sgp, you lose your PR because you can't enter as PR liao.

Does that mean as long as you're in Singapore, you're still a PR if REP expires? I think so, but I stand corrected.
*
Edit: That's my understanding too. Found this from ica:

If you leave Singapore or remain overseas without a valid REP, you will lose your permanent residence status. You will be assessed for entry into Singapore as a foreign visitor, subject to prevailing entry requirements.

Messaged them last Friday asking for updates and so far no response either.

Gotta be patient I guess.

12 weeks here biggrin.gif

Yeah based on their site 6+4 = 10 weeks via singpass, 10+4 = 14 weeks via other methods...we're not at the max yet haha.

QUOTE(gaijin @ Jul 25 2023, 06:06 PM)
Seems so troublesome to request withdrawal.

Wonder if better to just wait until account auto close , then only withdraw.
*
If you don't need the money might as well just wait till they auto close and transfer to your bank account.

If wait till auto close will be worse. Your money will be sitting there yielding nothing.

You still get the interest till Dec I think, not sure if they'll pro rate it for Jan-March.

won't transfer automatically.. they will just keep it as dormant.. (no interest).   .. maybe future will hit SGD1 to MYR5... (so no interest pun ok)
*
Oh yeah, must have remembered wrong. Checked their site and no mention of transferring to savings, just account closure with no interest earned.

IMPO, Spore Gov usually take half a year or more to clear all those services requested  one by one as Spore Gov very strict on documentation transaction on verification biggrin.gif
*
Probably coz of the huge number of people applying to withdraw. I have friends who moved from Singapore to other countries and it took them 2 weeks to process, not sure how long ago though and they probably did it in person in Singapore.

Edit: Just checked their website and it's just straight up "In view of the recent surge in applications to close CPF accounts, the processing duration has been extended up to 14 weeks."

Not purposely going down for CPF. It is a business trip.

Just maybe got time and pass by.
*
"Make an appointment at least one working day in advance, as counter services at CPF Service Centres are available by appointment only. "

Since you're going down tomorrow just make an appointment today? Can make appointment online too

I didn't apply for PR and not SG PR. I use MY IC to open CPF acc. So he got to search my acc using MY IC. And I look at him like having difficulty searching.

I ask him if now close the cpf acc and what happen later working back in SG and as PR. He said I got to return back all the money I took out into CPF.
*
That's an interesting point actually.
All this while if you cancel your PR, withdraw your CPF and then later want to apply for PR again, you need to return back all the money + interest that would have accumulated(i.e. from the year you withdraw to the year you apply for PR).
Now that we won't get interest from next year onwards, I'm guessing we'll just need to return only what we took out instead.

So their website says 10 weeks online, 14 weeks wait. But they won't reply u unless you've waited for more than 4 months.

I called for another issue but managed to get them to check my status.

Submitted on 30th May so roughly 14 weeks now, will take another 2 weeks or so plus extra few days for payment processing due to the amount of applications right now.

Congrats!
I was wondering if you'll get an email or just directly receive the funds, guess it's the latter.
Almost 16 weeks here, hope mine comes in soon.

Nothing, no email, I just login to POSbank account (DBS digibank Apps) and saw the money inside.

I submitted my application on 30 June in cpf Maxwell centre, the officer said everything is good, and ask me to wait for 3.5 months the money will auto credit to my account.

In your case you may want to follow up again, since yours is already 16 weeks, by the way you requested them to bank in Malaysia account or Singapore Account, that might be different.
*
Yeah I called to ask about a week ago, they apologized and said should be done in 2 more weeks.

I submitted online on 30th May and nominated a POSB account so I thought would be as quick as yours... Wonder if it's delayed coz my PR just expired about 2 years ago.

QUOTE(Knnbuccb @ Sep 18 2023, 11:56 AM)
anyone knows about PR renewal? since topic has been derailed.. i guess why not derail it further

example my frined has PR due for renewal next year around july . however end of this year he plans to go EUrope for PhD for 2-3 years
so he will be oveerseas for soem time
however he will be paying tax next year because this year he worked, and next year mid year will be due to pay taxes for this year (2023 taxes are to be paid in 2024). but 2024 he will be full time studying hence no tax .

since he is still paying taxes next year, that should work for him right? plus past 5 years he has been paying more than average taxes, in fact id say he is paying top 10% amount or more (e.g his tax per month can pay 2  blue collared workers salary) and he can always return after studies to continue contributing to SG. the only issue is that nowadays everything is computerized, and u cant justify all this to the computer which doesnt give a damn.  he even got some letter of appreciation during pandemic for volunteering during Sg's worst time in the past decade, the COVID 19 pandemic.....

anyone has similar stories of successful renewal?the reason to get PR is so that he can easily find a job after studies. but also heard EP does not need any quota, actually his pay qualifies for EP easily, but worried that EP will be given less preference compared to PR
*
The PR renewal and length of renewal depends on regular cpf contributions from what I've heard and not the amount of tax paid. If you have been working in sg which means regular cpf contributions then when they renew it you will get 5 years.

If you are no longer employed/living in SG and your cpf contribution has stopped for a while, the first time you renew they will likely give you 1 year. The next time you renew or if they don't allow you, you can go online to appeal and list down a reason. So long as you have a compelling reason they will decide on a case by case basis. I.e. Your friend can write that he is studying overseas and plans to return, he still has attachment to SG such as family, friends, belongings there and feels that he is part of the country as seen by his contribution to society and the letter of appreciation he received. Maybe even suggest he will still keep topping up his cpf.

When should one apply for re-entry renewal before the expiry date?
3 months or 1 month before the date?
*
From ICA:
You must renew your REP online using e-Service within three months prior to its expiry date. You are not required to submit any documents, unless requested by ICA.

It's up to you, ideally you do it earlier so that if it's rejected you have time to appeal. If you have a stronger case for renewal closer to the date then wait till 1 month before.
If you have no issue renewing then doesn't really matter.

Getting CPF interest rate all the way till about 5 days before the official payout email, which I guess is when they stop calculating.

Anyone used CPF to buy shares/stocks? The shares will be converted to normal shares and stored in CDP account, right?
