i need a recommendation for my car...
right now im currently using soundstream xsc.6 6.5" speaker for my front speaker with tweeter, stock speaker at the back and stock blaupunkt HU..
i know that i need an amp n a woofer to make the sound more keng rite? are the stock speaker at the back sufficient or do i need to change?
so wht type of amp should i buy? 4ch or 2ch? n the woofer, how big should it be?
my budget is rm1k for the amp n woofer.. willing to add more if the back speaker need to change..
sori if my question is sooo stupid coz i m very noob in ICE setup ^^
my type of music is rock, metal, punk blablabla..
im not into rnb or hiphop music...

i dun think ur stock HU can connect amps leh...its need high low converter lorr..u can check it out ur stock HU..unless u buy aftermarket head unit (got RCA connection)....
Buy a 2 x 12" subwoofer + amps...take out ur rear speaker laa...get a decent head unit (alpine)

yes... you can add a sub woofer and still running your rear... no problem with tht... but an improvement to your sound quality could be done by high-pass the rear speaker above the sub frequency...

other than tht... if you are into better sound system rather than louder sound system, a decent 12" subwoofer would be sufficient... other than tht have your sub woofer box custom made to match the sub woofer...

and well your HU problem... try to check with your installer to see whether there is any cover they selling if you are to change your HU... if none... a custom fabrications could be done to fit in your HU... not expensive but just whether you willing to spend tht money or not... if you are not happy with the price... there is always an option with stock HU intergration units, ie. 3.sixty, AudioControl, and a lot more... but there is also a price to pay... do some research around... you could find a lot of them in the market now...

jus my 2 cents

cheers...

not modification laa...just add a hi-low converter...i alwis prefer subwoofer with box....i dunno how to explain...but i personnally audited sub with & without box....

yes. as craziechild said, set higher pass for rear speaker.
but i will think is better u remove the rear speaker & concentrate to add subwoofer (as u preference songs is rock, metal & etc), the subs will give u sufficient bass compare to the rear speaker....

my 2 cents nia...

well... its not which one is better between with or without rear speaker... i ahd audited some great setup with rear speakers and those owners pointed out adding a rear speaker after they are done with their setup was a huge leap of improvement... but some say they would never think about it.. cuz it does more damage than good... i am in the second caterogy...

for sub without box you loose your sub's "kicks" and the loudness... but then the sound will be very "smooth" not punchy type... but not many sub in the low priced market are good running without an enclosure...

well... like bro derek said... adding a hi-lo is the option your friend mentioned... but i would recommend tht... when you are shopping for your amp... try to look for amps tht accept hi-input other than the normal RCA low inputs... tht would be a better choice... there are still many good brands tht provide this input if you look around... a cheap hi-lo is not a good choice as they would sometimes introduce noise to your sound...

as for your amps... hmm... i would say a 4ch amp would be good choice... 2ch for your front pair and 2ch bridged for your sub... tht is of cuz you are going for 1 sub only... if more... then a monoblock would be better choice... bridging mono i think most installer knows about it... and no need to tell them also they will do it... so no scare on tht...

cheers...

care to explain to me why it does more damage than good by adding rear speaker.. smile.gif

so.. for my type of music(rock, metal, punk blablabla) should i add box for my subwoofer.. ? smile.gif

so any recommended amps that gives good hi-lo... smile.gif

erm for the sub, if i want to add 2 subs so i juz need 2ch for my front pair and monoblock for my sub rite?

once again, sory for the inconvenience notworthy.gif

any audio installaer shud know how to do...is either u buy monoblock(1 channel) or 2 channel amps...
if u get 2 channel amps for ur sub...then u need to bridge mono(mean 2 channel bridge into 1 channel)....
since u are a rocky & metal type, i think monoblock shud be better & more power to juice ur sub sub....
no harm to use 2 channel amps & bridge it to pump ur sub, but there is possibility weaken ur amps & stability power output....

my 2 cents niaa....

hmm.. why more damage than good.... well it boils down to what is your definition of good SQ... some say its loudness.. some say its the vocals... but to me its the realistics of the sound stage...

meaning... i wan my sound stage to be in front of me... no where else... so adding a rear speker would give me a double staging source... so it pretty much damages my SQ based on my own definition... right?

your music selctions is very different from mine.. but i love the way linkin park, green day and chemical romance sound in my setup... i hope thesse examples helps... hehe... my sub is in a enclosure btw...

amps tht gives a good high lo... hmm... DLS... some older Soundstream... jus what i can remember for now... not really remember them cuz i dun use them... but do check around with their manuals and stuff like tht... sould be able to find it.. no probleam...

well... you are pretty much right for the amps things... but btw... they are some hybrib amps too... like genesis and DLS tht are 3 channel amp... you can try those if the power is right for you...

as for your sub... no matter how many you are going to add... make sure you get the right enclosure for your sub... it makes a whole lot difference...

cheers...

erm... the sub woofer would usually come without an enclosure... and well only reputable installers customs them... if you go for brothers and such... they would say the box is all the same...

you mean you are going to copy my setup to your car? hehe... good if you are willing to spend tht money... but good luck find the stuff...

cheers...
