Hi guys, so my mum's Redmi 8 has been having cell signal issue since last year, and today it finally refused to work no matter what we tried. Since it's a hassle to back-up the data inside and recover it later, I decided it's time for a new phone.

Based on parents usage (WhatsApp, YouTube, facebook), what would you guys suggest?

Budget-wise I feel like 1k below is fine, as it needs 6-8GB ram to function normally in the next 3-5 years (hopefully)

I've had good experience with the X3 and X3 Pro, but never the M series, might take a look at it in Shopee.

The thing is I saw quite a few older people around using Oppo phones for 4-5+ years no issues, should be a testament on the build quality of their phones.

If they use FB, youtube etc, you need a decent phone. Samsung A series .

M series also got 5G nowadays, I doubt she needs the performance of the 8 series SD chip. Plus my parents are using XOX prepaid to save money so 5G is not a priority.

Then Samsung it is...

I mean software support quite nice, 4 years of promised security update, One UI nowadays also quite user friendly.

Won't go wrong with Samsung.

I'll say some mid range Samsung

Oppo, I don't like their value (price to specs), for the price you could get a xiaomi with better specs
xiaomi... MIUI is buggy as always and the latest redmi series is honestly just dissapointing
