Hi guys, so my mum's Redmi 8 has been having cell signal issue since last year, and today it finally refused to work no matter what we tried. Since it's a hassle to back-up the data inside and recover it later, I decided it's time for a new phone.

Based on parents usage (WhatsApp, YouTube, facebook), what would you guys suggest?

Budget-wise I feel like 1k below is fine, as it needs 6-8GB ram to function normally in the next 3-5 years (hopefully)

I've had good experience with the X3 and X3 Pro, but never the M series, might take a look at it in Shopee.

The thing is I saw quite a few older people around using Oppo phones for 4-5+ years no issues, should be a testament on the build quality of their phones.

M series also got 5G nowadays, I doubt she needs the performance of the 8 series SD chip. Plus my parents are using XOX prepaid to save money so 5G is not a priority.

Samsung or even Nokia phones would be nice.

I'd consider Samsung but not Nokia unfortunately.
