I think it all happened in 1998, just one year after 1997 when Hong Kong was returned to China. We had the SPF Discussion Group which was an internal discussion forum within the SPF, it just came up. Suddenly the world financial markets had this 金融风暴, Indonesia had their 排华 and American teens had the Columbine High School shooting.

The front line officers of the SPF were sorta like jumping up and down in the internal forum "shouting" "you pay peanuts you get monkeys" PLUS "We don't want (or need) our police guns anymore. Stun gun, stun guns. We want our stun guns and we want them NOW!" (From my POV: 上面一群几十，可能有一百个？老夫子（from DSPs to CP)，下面一大群几千，甚至可能是几万个大小孩子、大小猴子 + 大小番薯，在网络里吵吵闹闹、跳上跳下地吵着 “Stun gun, stun guns. We want our stun guns and we want them NOW.”)

And I was like this: 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

I know about the Y2K millennium bug.

I was even part of the 24 hour emergency operation team that was set up for exactly this purpose, I think it was from 0800 hrs on 31st December 1999 to 2000 hrs on 1st January 2000.

But can't remember exactly the numbers already la.

Meaning of life: I think TS had also asked the question "do you regret anything??"

I had an ex bf when I was studying in Sydney who's a doc, and also two gfs from the Women's College which is actually the students' hostel in university. One gf is also a doc now and the other is a lawyer practising in Ohio, USA, I think. The ex bf I shall just name him Dr. O (for Orgy or Orally??) And the gf who's a doc I shall name her Dr. L and the lawyer is Mdm. Ho.

From the years 1999-2000, we were all in Singapore and I think Mdm. Ho moved to the States also in year 2000, after I moved back to Selangor. Because Mdm Ho was actually born in Hong Kong and we all met in Women's College in Sydney uni. But she also came to Singapore to work for a law firm (one of the big fours) in 1999.

Not only paper writing report cases, but I think it was more like almost ALL the police forces in ALL the countries of our modern world had to get together to cooperate AND coordinate for the cross over from 2359 hrs on 31st December 1999 to 0000 hrs on 1st January 2000 operation.
