Hi all, my double storey house is almost 30 years old.

The incoming water from gov piping is high pressure and high flow of water but unfortunately water flow in all of the toilets in ground floor and first floor is very low.

Wondering whether suitable to install water pump? Worry the piping might burst

Hi, if your existing house is still using GI pipe (metal), the chances of its experiencing burst or leak due to water pump is relatively high. Question that you should be asking yourself is;

1. Have you been experiencing any leaks so far in this house?
If it is little to none, it is a good indication that your house piping system is still in good shape and this will becomes a calculated risk to have a water pump installed.

2. Have you put in budget for complete piping system revamping?
Do bring in a few plumbers to have the work cost budgeted as to have a good gauge on how much it will cost you in the event if you were to experienced pipe burst or leak due to a water pump installation.

3. Will the aesthetic feature of an exposed water piping system be a serious concerned to you?
If it is not, the installation of new exposed water piping system can be real money and livelihood saver should you need to revamp the entire system. However, if it is not, it is best to have the cost estimated on everything prior to have the water pump installed.

Apart from what cubicc had mentioned, if the incoming pressure is high and internal outlet are low, chances are, your internal GI either is rusted and has high sediment, hence the flow is interrupted.

Run a new set of exposed piping should be cheaper and easier. You can judge the water pressure by connecting a temporary hose or pipe up to top floor.

Fortunately, no leaking so far...

In a rather tight budget after purchasing the house.. so I would try my best to save as much money as possible.

3. Will the aesthetic feature of an exposed water piping system be a serious concerned to you?
Does it mean if anything touch wood happened, I could just cut the supply and reinstall a surface piping to all toilet and kitchen?

If indeed that's the case, what's the possible solution? As I can see water that came out is yellowish as well.

My plumber has tested if direct piping the water pressure is sufficient. If using existing concealed pipe, the water came out slower and milky yellowish.
