Hey sifuess....

I am in about 6 months of riding my bike, but i do wanna learn more like how to do those knee down cornering and stuff
I see thailand and vietnam got lots of this kind of advance class, but hard to find here in Malaysia

I have found The School of Knee Down but they only do Saturday, but I am only free on Sundays.

Was wondering if there are any classes or lessons out there?

Just curious on your motivation for doing knee down?

Track a lot? If not, there is no riding scenario that REQUIRES knee down on any sane and reasonable speeds on street roads.

If you are doing track? Just watch YouTube videos and practice practice practice on track (it's not that hard) and leave the knee down antics on the track. I'm sure you can get to know instructors at track days.

to corner better, doenst have to be knee down(just example), but to be able to corner without slowing down too much. Cause now when i turn i feel like i have to really slow down to 20

You don't have to knee down to do a corner above 20.

You just don't go fast or tight enough to need a knee down other than to show off when riding on the street. I can scrap my pegs staying upright to the bike.

I think the real problem is you are not leaning the bike in a corner or counter steering to initiate a lean. Don't confuse knee down from leaning. Racers do knee down to minimize lean angle....and keep the bike more upright.

What bike are you riding now?

Not to sound harsh, (not my intention) looks like you need a basic course before you try looking for an advanced course.

If wanna improve cornering skills, one way is to start slow speed maneuver practices
point your sight and learn how the bike responds

prepare the bike and yourself for drops

there are bike apps for this kinda stuff
then, prepare some small plastic cones, and maybe a video camera to capture your practices in case you have questions you can post here

full lock turn
figure 8
slaloms

if you master these 3, see if your riding confidence improve or not

Are you going to ride on race tracks ?
Cornering at high speed?

If not. Forget about knee down.
street riding you don't need it.

Ahhh.... those were the days when you read up Keith Code's book, attended racetrack school, bought a 1-pc leather suit, went to trackdays and travelled everywhere in search of tasty corners.

A scuffed kneeslider was a rite of passage where boys became men. Then you went up to titanium sliders that announced your arrival among the gods in a shower of sparks.

Then you got old, bought an adventure bike and moved on....

I certainly concur with this.

It's important to learn low speed first to build confidence.

Just to add on, low speed riding and higher speed riding is different. Slow and tight needs you to counter lean and push your bike down. The more lean you can get, the tighter your turns will be.

Where higher speed cornering you need to lean with the bike...but not to the point you require to do knee down by doing street speeds.

I think we already progress to old man Liao. Built up a healthy reserve of "don't give a fvck" and just ride how we want to ride....besides most of our bikes now have so little peg clearance just a spirited normal ride would already max out our lean angles.

Bro

If you dont track and just do occasional mountain runs no need to knee down

If you are new to bikes, you can ride bicycle to practise basics of cornering first

And to add on, most track goers will even tuck in their knees/ legs generally for 2 reasons:
1) their lean angles are so awesome they need more ground clearance
2) knee sliders are friggin expensive to keep grinding at laugh.gif

you're on point about those knee sliders being expensive. I am asking around for used ones some ppl give away for free. You got?

I tuck knee and scoot over the tank when corner... reason is to minimize aero drag

Actually if you really want to skill up, take an off road scrambler course first...then only take a track course.

You may think oh I never go off road... But street riding emergency control is better learnt on a dirt bike on loose surfaces.

This. I would think a dirt bike teaches alot of useful skills than track focused training.

For road use, learn to counter steer and counter balance like a traffic police is good enough i think. Sometimes i scraped my footpegs if i counterbalanced too much. Lol.
