As long as you're using a charger with overcharge protection, explosive battery failure shouldn't be an issue. There are also signs of failure that you can look out for in the battery. If it starts to look bloated, just stop using it and replace immediately. When the battery gets bloated, it won't hold a charge properly anyway.

Someone mentioned above, but try to get a scooter with the biggest wheels you can get. Malaysian roads are pretty bad and bigger wheels means you won't get flipped over so easily.

i agree bigger wheels and with suspension is a bigger bonus. ability to fold up and stand nicely is good too , if you have limited space to store.
