the G-variant for the new Toyota Vios is around RM96k and for the fun of it, i just went to Honda Malaysia's (HM) website and check out the pricing/specification for the Honda City (because everyone seems to praise the latter) and it appears that for a comparatively equally spec'd vehicle, the Honda City is priced +/- RM95k, which is just RM1k lesser.
so the question is, why the hate on the Vios being the "unworthy" one |

Probably because vios used to be the bang for buck Toyota. Now it's tickling 100k price point. A lot of tech is quite unnecessary and the design is too complicated for car usually brought to pasar and short commute.so the question is, why the hate on the Vios being the "unworthy" one  Honda city is for people want to feel different. Honestly i don't see the difference, but I stopped caring about Honda after testing their City and realised it's damn fucuking loud in the cabin when you drive a bit fast. I dunno if they bothered fixing it. This was 10 years ago. I still look at Honda City cars and think "ew" after my experience. gobiomani liked this post

A lot of tech is quite unnecessary and the design is too complicated for car usually brought to pasar and short commute. everything was a "bang for the buck" many moons ago - but the point is, its closest competitor (Honda City) around priced around that margin so it's not like the Vios is has a "harga yahudi" right?Honda city is for people want to feel different. I still look at Honda City cars and think "ew" after my experience. the declining sale in C and D segment sedans basically reduces the market demographic to either a compact one (B-segment) or straight up SUV. my understanding is perhaps they packing features that would otherwise only be found in C/D segments into the B segment so that they can still maintain market share? i've stopped caring about Honda since i sold way my 9th generation Accord. They make good cars but i can't seem to wrap my head around the majority of the people praising the City over the new Vios though. |

Have you test-driven both? That might give you the answer you're looking for. The City simply drives better - Acceleration & handling, although both have similar specs. Vios has better FC though.the declining sale in C and D segment sedans basically reduces the market demographic to either a compact one (B-segment) or straight up SUV. my understanding is perhaps they packing features that would otherwise only be found in C/D segments into the B segment so that they can still maintain market share? i've stopped caring about Honda since i sold way my 9th generation Accord. Yes more expensive, but a much better car overall. dogbert_chew liked this post
