My younger sister is lazy and lacks motivation to engage in any productive activities.

She sleeps at 3am every day and wakes up at 2pm or 12pm.
She has no hobbies and has been at home doing almost nothing for the past 2 years.

Now, she is repeating a final year project subject in her degree.
She has completed all her subjects and only has to finish her final year project to graduate.

I asked her to join me for a jog at Hutan Bandar at 6am or 7am, but she refused.

How can someone bring about change in their life?

Maybe you could talk to her and listen non-judgementally.

It takes some time for her to open up and if she doesn't want to talk, it's okay. Just tell her you are available to talk when she needed to.

Don't give your opinion or force your values on her during the talk. Just reply oh, I see or um hmm... Or keep quiet.

Maybe you could ask her if she is feeling down. How long has she been feeling down/depressed. Acknowledge her feeling of being down/depress and show empathy (feelings that you care). If it is more than 6 months, then you could suggest to bring her to see a clinical psychology or psychiatrist.

Remember that depression is not permanent and it will pass. It takes time.
