QUOTE(MalcomShorten @ Jun 28 2025, 02:01 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « If a company gives you 50%, it means your current salary is too low based on your years of experience.
Companies aren't stupid, they don't just give you 50% because you asked.
I got a 60% jump on my second company after 4 years of working, from RM3k+ to RM5k . I thought I got the best deal of my life and that other company finally recognises my talent cause I have an overseas masters degree, having displayed technical skills of a very senior employee cause I learned the skills from my parents, and I am already half way into completing my professional qualification. However, after a few years into my 2nd company, I realise people same age as me with same years of experience actually earned slightly higher than me just from yearly increment and expected promotion from being a slightly above average performer. This basically just mean my first company screwed me over, or more specifically my immediate boss gave me lousy increment and no promotion, despite putting in 150% effort.
Now being in a higher management position myself, I understood why and how companies hire staff and trust me, climbing the corporate ladder isn't as simple as you think it is. When was this?
