cloudgaming

Three months after first teasing it, Yes 5G and NVIDIA have finally brought the latter’s GeForce NOW cloud gaming service to Malaysia. Cloud gaming basically lets you stream the game you’re playing in real time by accessing a virtual computer, allowing you to play almost any game, anywhere on any device.

However, not everyone will be able to sign up for it at the moment. The Yes 5G Gaming beta only applies to Yes customers for now, and those of you without a Yes number will be prompted to sign up for one of Yes’ telco plans instead.

If you are on a Yes plan though, then you can just sign up for a Yes 5G Gaming account. During the beta, you’ll be able to access NVIDIA GeForce NOW for free and play any of the games available in the platform’s library. There’s a 6 hour limit on each gaming session though, which is perhaps a good thing if you’re someone who actually plays video games for six hours straight. The games you choose to play will also have RTX On, if it’s an available option.

As mentioned earlier, the Yes 5G Gaming Beta will be available at no cost for Yes customers, with the beta access lasting from now till the 10th of April. That gives you just about three weeks to try out any of the over 1,500 titles in its library, which includes games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Destiny 2, Fortnite, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and more.

Oh, and perhaps the best part of cloud gaming is that you don’t need a gaming PC or a console either—GeForce NOW will work on almost any device, from a Windows PC or MacOS system to your smartphone and even certain smart TVs. What you do need though is a fast internet connection with low latency; GeForce NOW requires at least 15Mbps for 720p at 60FPS gaming, 25Mbps for 1080p at 60FPS gaming and 35Mbps for up to 4K gaming at 120FPS.

Once you’ve signed up for a Yes 5G Gaming account successfully (you can do so here), you’ll then need to download and use the GeForce NOW app for your platform. You can then log into your account on the GeForce NOW app, link it to your own Steam, Epic Game Store or GOG account and start playing all the games you want—at least, till 10 April.

I used to subscribe to Starhub's GeForce Now servers before they switch to the crazier pricing model.

You don't really need mobile internet - any internet, even Fibre will work. You can even run it on browsers!

i find browsers laggy than the app

Any more reviews to share? For non-Yes subscription it's RM50 per month. Beats spending thousands for a good gaming PC?

I tried starhub geforce b4, really not bad and very convenient. I have played cyberpunk dota and overall quite impressed with the latency and ping. Just need a very strong internet connection.

wanted to try yes geforce but after looking at the pricing, shakehead.gif

I still don't like the idea of cloud / digital.
Hated it when games started to go digital only, still hate them now. And now this cloud gaming thingy, I prefer to have my own GPU. This is just like renting, and I hate the idea of renting.

For me depends on your pov. Of course it’s a no brainer to own a gpu but for example if ur pc got any problem or during travel where you need to kill some time, cloud gaming is kinda great. It’s good to have options biggrin.gif

The official NVIDIA website, geforcenow.com, automatically selects the available providers based on your country of residence. However, you have the option to switch to a different provider by accessing the GFN app > hamburger icon (top-left corner) > Settings > Geforce Now Provider > Switch Provider option, but only if you haven't logged in or registered. This is the only way to change your provider.

This is using a supported web browser to access GFN settings from the play.geforcenow.com website:

Click the "Switch Provider" button

Click the "Show providers for other regions" link

Choose the provider you want to register with or have registered to (certain provider's web access may require you to use a VPN)

But if u choose for example us, won’t u be playing on us server? And the ping and delays will be high?

Last time before gfn masuk MY, I subscribed SG gfn for a few times for testing and the screen quality much better with 3080 rig. Price is much cheaper too, I rmb around rm2+ to 3+. Sad now no longer can access SG gfn, the website keep redirect you back to MY.

You mean using VPN to access SG server?

Somehow i'm quite satisfied now using the 2080 rig since i mainly use for handheld console   thumbup.gif

But last evening not sure is unifi pasal or what, keep getting bad connection "your connection is spotty" which later night time resume normal again.
Good thing is MY now doesn't have the 100hour / month limitation.

Last time no need vpn, can directly subscribe to SG and use their rig and server. Now not sure anymore, no longer use gfn.

Evening and night unifi like that one, will keep buffer. Maybe not enough bandwidth.
