Hi all, I wanted to trade-in my bike for a new bike from this shop. However, the offer they gave for my current bike was too low.
Planning to sell my bike on my own.
My question is:
i. How do I transfer vehicle name from one to another?
ii. What else should I do besides i. ?
Bike has been fully paid
Sorry this is my first vehicle. Newbie in all these. Any guidance and advice is much appreciated.

Bring the original vehicle certificate or more usually known as 'grant'. You can do the ownership change there. Alternatively, there are agents who bring the thumb print machine to you and do it straight from a laptop. For this, you don't even need to have the 'grant' present. Just IC will do. I sold my bike using both methods. Not difficult actually

Yes what /k lowpro said is correct. Also make ur own simple contract (can get an online draft). Both parties can sign. Ur issue is payment. Transfer on the spot before transfer the bike. Also jpj now need to use a jpj app to get ur number. So u may want to prepare first. Luckily the app don’t need to register to use.

1.Exchange cash or whatever terms of payment you agreed on 2. Go to JPJ do thumbprint and filll out form with your details and buyer details. Once you do the thumbprint on your end, the buyer will have 1 week to complete the title transfer. Alternatively, the both of you can go together and do the transaction on the spot as well.
And yes, JPJ need to use app now. Download it and get your ticket number when visiting

I want to tumpang TS thread. I think my bike has no value, and no one would want to buy it. I wonder how can I sell my bike to scrap? Some items are still working fine though (carburetor just changed for example).

Some items are still working fine though (carburetor just changed for example). Try posting on Mudah or FB marketplace or other selling platforms like Carousell etc. Before you do that, check the prices of similar aged bikes to yours then put a reasonable price. Remember, if you put almost same price as others, the buyers will normally have a hard time deciding. But if you have a lower price, they will be more interested to call you. You can price high if your bike is in tip top shape (which you must mention) and is at buy and ride condition. All the best.

End up need to pay in order to declare the bike to be a scrap to JPJ and pay dumping fee to a junkyard.

Looks like lowpro got it pretty much covered, if you want to make sure the buyer is serious you can ask for non-refundable deposit in case the buyer needs some time to gather the cash or something. If you are not selling a high priced motorcycle I don't need you need to bother with any written agreement, your text conversation is good enough, and the best way is to both go to JPJ together and do the name change so you are sure all is settled.
If the bike's road tax is dead/expired for more than 3 years then you will need to have inspection done first.
Happy selling!

What if the seller is a foreigner, is the process different than below?
1. Malaysian buyer pay for the bike 2. Foreigner seller go JPJ to process vehicle ownership transfer since they cannot use mySikap 3. Malaysian buyer complete the transfer using mySikap / JPJ counter
