Im planning to buy a new car.. But dont want cvt/dcvt gearbox..

My dream car but the price is so out of reach for something so basic

4 speed sucks la. Slow like shit. Even a shitty CVT is better than 4 speed.

Another kena conned? Previously Hyundai SC also tell me the same... I screwed them upside down. Changed mine at 40k interval.

Better at acceleration. But top speed generally slower.

CVT is mostly for economy driving. No sudden pedal to the medal or simply accelerated here and there.

Hybrid CVT is the best of both AT and CVT worlds. Good for heavy and light footed drivers.

Because of the loudsy gear box that might kong anytime with no warning?
CVT is not meant for heavy footer.

This is how I see it. If take CVT, the fuel savings you save over a 4AT, then pay for replacement gearbox. At the end of the day, spend same amount only.

Buy car with high resale value. That amount more than your CVT gearbox replacement. For eg, Saga 4AT vs Myvi CVT

Lifetime gearbox oil simply means, u drive for a few years, then u are going to recycle the car as junk metal.

Kia Picanto discontinued for quite some time already. Today you look at Kia Malaysia website , you dont see Picanto anymore

Not just abt cheapskate using CVT.
I can tell you , for Honda City 2009 with 5 speed auto , i average 13km/l in city driving vs 15km/l with a 2014 Honda City with CVT.
The 2014 City in highway can hit 18km/l easily if you obey speed limit.
For lower end cars , the fuel consumption matters alot more to potential buyers than higher end cars. Plus many countries tax cars based on emissions which CVT does better.
If you buy something like a Camry, you get 8AT. Or any Lexus.

hilly roads are CVT's strong point
they have so many different ratios, they have ratios for hilly road on top of the usual 7 gear ratio for flat road
once the gearbox detects you're going uphill, it switches to the uphill ratio which makes it going uphill superbly easy which conventional auto can't do

which is why CVT and conventional auto is not really a choice or which one is more superior
it's based on what u need

u are comparing a 2009 vs 2014 car. The 2014, under the hood is the familiar but lightly-improved 1.5 litre SOHC i-VTEC engine, now with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), a new resin intake manifold and less friction. The motor makes 120 PS at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm at 4,600 rpm, and is mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission.
2nd, it is noted to get better FC with CVT, due to no hunting for peak torque as normal auto/manual, hence a better fc, plus lower rpm at a constant speed. Manufacturers (japan) love this cause it is cheaper per parts, tick for FC, but not reliability, or driveability. Thats why BMW, Mercedes don't ever had CVT, Audi last time got but for basic spec, now no more

make it below 35 of age. because after that, you will quicken the wear & tear for your foot ligamen and whatnot that could be crucial for your later age, especially when you start to hit 50+.

Get 2nd king maibi or god vios with 4at.

Legendary 4AT from Toyota are indestructible.
May not as good as cvt performance on modern day car, but 4at long lasting, less maintenance, some my uncles still driving 90s corolla 4at never give any problem til today. Unless u got lemon unit or never maintain it well, or drive like no tomorrow then not good.
