Hi,

I'm looking at the joining of wall tiles at the corners. Generally there are 3 ways as per my sketch below:

1) Just overlap the tiles
2) Use those plastic corner strips
3) Cut the tiles at 45 degree angle and join them

May I know which way is better? I think maybe the 3rd one is better in term of look?

Or is there any other method to join this?

Thanks

No 3 if done well and grouted well should be nicest. But likely most expensive. No many tilers willing to do as cutting the 45 degree with grinder takes long time. Those that do will charge more. And suitable for walls only, not floor.

No 2. Clean look, but will be different color than tile (unless you can get a well matched one). If plastic, some might not like the look. If aluminium, nicer and pricier. If SS, can use for floor/steps too, but expensive.

No 1. Most common. Easiest and cheapest. But unless you use homogenous tiles, will see the different tile edge color. Depending in your tile surface pattern and color, the contrast can be “annoying”

ya personally i also prefer type 2 since the outcome is easier to predict (doesn't need the skills to cut the 45 angle) but wife said it's old fashion and type 3 is better tongue.gif

No.3 - ya correct, agreed with this. it's for the wall only since i'm putting the 2x2 tiles on my wall, i think it's thicker and easier to cut than those thinner wall times. but let me double confirm with him on the cost part.

No.2 - it's actually also ok for me, as my wall tiles will be those 2x2 marble white pattern, thus those plastic white corner pieces will match well. but wife said it's old fashion tongue.gif

No.1 - yup mine is not homogenous, the surface is white but body is yellowish, this it will not look good

I just read this last post of yours, serious answer now.

If your tiles are not homogenous, then doing #3 may lead to a very sharp edge. And then you can't blunt the edge as the tile colour underneath is different. Just be aware of this.

haha but need to see if there's any other impact when doing this, as now we can only imagine, not actual sample yet

3 will easily chipped, i usually do no.1 but which side on top of which side will depend on your view going into the space or how you first view it.

if steps for example, the horizontal will be on top of vertical.

if box up in toilet..front facing will go over the shower wall tile.
