Hi,

Below is the sketch for my dry kitchen. The total width is about 9ft, where left with about 5ft corridor after deducting the cabinets on both sides. Length is about 17ft.

Planning to put 3 downlight spots as indicated by the red circle.

Questions:
1) What's the size of the downlight needed? I'm planning to get the 5" light (around 900-950lm each). Is it sufficient?
2) What shall be the positioning distance? Shall I take 17ft/4 as the center to center distance to place the 3 downlights?

Thanks

speaking from own experience. thats not enough.
you need lights from the cabinets too.
the work top is too dark due to shadow from cabinets.

oh ya, will have T5 below the top cabinet (the one on the right hand side)

the cabinet on the left hand side will be tall cabinet with fridge

actually i'm thinking to put the 6" downlight but worry that it might look too big for the small area hmm.gif

thanks

just my sugestion, again, use 4 or maybe 6 smaller downlights instead.
those 3 large downlights will cause ugly shadows.

i see, ok noted your suggestion. will ask the contractor to loop 2 more points then

too bad the contractor is saying that nowadays, looping like this short distance is also counted as 1 new light point price, no more separation between new point vs loop point doh.gif doh.gif

Then 3 pcs is sufficient (900-1200lm). Ensure you get quality downlights like Philips/Osram as their stated lumen output is true output.
Have seen Philips 1200lm beat those China branded so claimed 1440lm when we use a lux meter to measure. (122lx vs 100lx).
Also the Philips 1200lm only consume 12W whereas the China branded needs 18W.

noted with thanks. i think i will try with the 3 first, if not enough then only make another 2 holes in between the 3.

for 1200lm i believe it's the 6" light, jus wondering if it will look ok based on my corridor width of only 5ft?

thanks

oi... dont lah in a single row. LOL!!!
also get bulbs with good CRI.
nothing makes the house look haunted than a poor CRI led light

ya looking for CRI 80 based on the advices from the bosses here tongue.gif

btw i see a brand called Pila which based on the specs has the CRI 80 but pricing is lower than Ledvance/Philips. Not sure if anyone has the experience with this Pila brand? reviews on lzd/shp seems positive

thanks
