Hi esteemed forumers. Would like to get your general insights as a Honda jazz hybrid owner as I am pretty new to the Hybrid world as well as have a thick head about cars. I saw a buying offer for a 2017 Honda jazz hybrid and would like to ask some questions:

1) is it a good offer to purchase a 2017 Honda jazz hybrid with ~50k mileages for RM52k? The car is presently already a second hand car and the owner could not show me any service history record apart from the latest maintenance stickers (a little uncomfortable without proper documented history). Also, would the car take a deep depreciation after the end of the battery warranty which is just another 2 years from today.

2) Should I expect any major replacement soon eg battery coolant and hybrid fan?

3) Related to (2), what are some of more expensive replacements you have done for your hybrid jazz and after how many years since purchase? Has this cause you to regret purchasing a hybrid?

Many thanks in advance 🙏

1) can check at honda service, should the previous owner send the car there for servicing.
2 ) 5 years car sure to have maintenance coming, either small or big one only, not only hybrid system, all belting, all fluids, absorber, bushing, mountings would need to be changed/inspected

First thing first, thank you so much for your reply. Really appreciate it. Assuring to bounce thoughts with forumers here.

We plan to get an inspector to inspect the car to see if the conditions are okay. I have done some research and given the car is already 50k miles, the next replacement items are battery coolant and hybrid battery fan which may cost around Rm5-7k.

With all these under consideration plus lack of service history (though there is the latest service sticker), would like to get more experienced forumers to share whether RM55k OTR is a good price (base price = Rm52.5k).

Thank you for replying 🙏 myvi was one of the considerations earlier but after test driving both, prefer the magic seat for transporting bikes and more comfortable passenger seat from Honda Jazz.

I may read too much into it but sounds like you don’t think it’s a good buy?

Also, though the car claims about 50k mileage, it is Afterall a 6 years old car. For a hybrid, is the mileage or age a more reliable indicator of a car longevity?

Thanks a lot for the tips. That’s true - one more point I did not mention is this car is already 2nd hand. Based on these info, how much do you reckon this car should worth?

Honda i-DCD hybrid, the one you're considering here is a solid daily-driving car without any major problems. It drives like any other car albeit extra fuel saving becoz it's a hybrid.

Things u need to consider though:
1. Mileage been tempered or not
2. Check with Honda SC on service record and possibility to transfer the warranty
3. That ULTRA seat sure is a big plus

This is a good read also Buying Used Honda Hybrids

I suggest you follow your heart. Get a good inspector or foreman to do a thorough check on the car. New car like Myvi n Bezza doesn't proof trouble free. Myvi no comparison on fuel saving n Bezza on handling n comfort for rear seat passenger. I was a Jazz E owner n I can tell you it is a good car.

I read more in HRV group previous model. The hybrid model use dry clutch gb and got also owner claim new gb under warranty. For those outside warranty, the parts itself is expansive. The usual cvt on non hybrid, most k.o after certain high km. Believe the dct dry clutch is same for most honda hybrid model

Assuming the mileage is true, 52k for 5 years hybrid car is still very expensive.

If i remember correctly, new car price is around 80. So after 5 years, it depreciate 28k only? More so when this is a hybrid, which is well known to have bad resale value.

FB do have a Honda iDCD Hybrid Owner group, i think most concern is the clutch issue where some owner claim warranty due to this failure as HM never include clutch fluid in their maintenance
