QUOTE(verx @ Nov 14 2007, 03:17 PM) I admire your optimism but we are talking Andorra here whose football is at semi pro level at best. It's not even a question of who wins but by how much Russia will win. You know you're in deep trouble when you need the result of others to help you qualify. Like ya said, England got no one but themselves to blame.England have already shot themselves in the foot and only have themselves to blame. |

The FA had it coming, a lot of skeptics (including me) doubted his ability when McClown was appointed. He never show any ability to solve most of the problem that Erickson encountered. Worse of the lot, he compounded it even further. Seriously, cannot see how the FA can let him continue working with the national team. Who ever comes in to replace him must change the mindset of the entire team and give more young players a chance to shine rather than depend on a bunch of over paid primadonnas.

So it's confirm then, the search for a new manager has officially begun. Shortest term for a manager - it shouldn't have happen in the first place.
Who next? Mourinho, Klinsmann etc? |

I will not be in favour of Sam "bung, i am going to jail" Allardice as the next England manager. Never liked his style of play and he is not doing too well with the Toons as well as alien has already pointed out. The FA need to take a long hard look at themselves before they decide on the new gaffer. Continental coach seems to have more tactical knowledge compared to the English.

Who ever takes over the job, it's gonna be like standing in front of a firing squad. He's gonna need a thick face or some very quick wit to negotiate his arse away from the press and the angry mock of English fans. Mourinho will fit into it perfectly!!!!

"It would be a beautiful challenge. I am the right age. It is a battle,' Capello told Thursday's Gazzetta dello Sport." http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=483979&cc=4716 This post has been edited by JonC: Nov 22 2007, 06:05 PM |

I noticed the last really trust worthy keeper the 3 Lions had was Peter Shilton!!!!! Seaman, James, Robinson, Kirkland (Glass) and Carson are prone to lapses in concentration.

I'd be more interested in Lippi taking up the job imho. Capello's team can be a bit stale tactically as some have put it.

A guy who is so absent minded (except when it comes to party time), he forgot to attend a dope test. No thanks.

Honestly, I'd say Rooney with his endless energy and drive could be the perfect captain to power the English team, all he need is too curb his over aggressiveness sometimes. Gerrard would be my sentimental choice as he is the captain of Liverpool, but then the responsibility of captaining 2 side could be too much of a burden to him.
I've let know my feelings for Rio Ferdinand, never liked him and never will. Have not really see him do anything good nor spectacular in the English shirt. |
