actually, when you buy psp, firmware already install, only thing is, you should check if its original SOny firmware or customize firmware.
how to check? goto settings, system information. but, currently, if you buy outside Sony, 100% its already customize.

say latest firmware
- 3.90 sony official firmware
- 3.90m33-2 latest custom firmware by DA.

FYI, I just meet Nicodemus this afternoon, unbricking and UG to 3.90m33-2 his PSP Phat Sliver. customizing xmb theme as well.

use cxmb plugin bro...its very easy to use, and 101% will not affect your psp system co'z it installs on your ms...

if you'd like to make your own, use the UPMSv3r3, this will install directly to your ms for dcv4, dcv3, and TM
must use jigkick battery aka pandora battery...

convertion of battery is more likely to use the LE recoveryv3 / v1 for 3.90, on phat psp only...
