Does it mean can use iPhone too? hmm.gif

Rapid KL is quietly testing a new payment option for MRT in the form of bank, credit, and debit cards. However, this particular payment option which is called “Bank Card” is only available for token purchase and seems that it is being activated only on one specific model of Token Vending Machine (TVM) at random stations within the MRT Putrajaya line.

The activation of the payment option was first highlighted by Amir Azmi who shared his experience with it on the Malaysian Land Public Transport Fans (MLPTF) Facebook group. The post was then highlighted by Lowyat.NET Forumers liberty0480 and PoisonSoul in the shoppingmode Apple Pay thread.

Based on Amir’s screenshot, I believe his experience took place on 26 January at a TVM in the Sri Damansara Timur station. However, when I visited the station earlier today and try to utilise the same ticket machine myself, the Bank Card payment option was greyed out:

Not much point though. Most people use TnG anyway. Probably only useful for tourists.

It's hard to get TnG cards nowadays. That happened to one of my relative when TnG card expired. Alternative payment systems is certainly useful.

Personally I prefer to have separate TnG card. Less risk of losing IC.

A lot of users doing this and rarely lost IC. And jf u the one who lost that means you are the problem.

This is to prevent MY50 to be abuse. U can pass ur card to other person. But will u pass ur IC to other person?

I once daily used NRIC as TNG. It ended up with the chip spoiling and tng itself undetectable. Troublesome experience.

Its great to have multiple payment option. But when you touch/tag no let you go, Ppl behind automatic thinks "MCB no money go die other place, Don't block <insert racial slur>" pass you and give you a quick look or death stare as if you kill or lape the whole pamily

Why RapidKL no make the QR code available on the entry/exit point, then we can use phone to scan QR Code and use TnG e-wallet instead of the TnG physical card?

this is only for purchasing the token though, not passing through the gate. but i guess it might take some time to implement the reader at the gate since they need to install it in all stations.

Beli token more mahal than using TnG tho.

Eventhough I highlighted about it, I still rather use my TnG as it’s cheaper unless they can prove it to me that paying via contactless for token is priced the same as using TnG
