What's the best idea for Wall treatment for Living Room in terrace or Semi D ? I've seen painted walls, textured paint, fluted panel, wallpaper or just put a big gaudy artwork ?
What's the pros & cons?

Paint ... cheap and easy maintenance

If you find it too 'boring' after painting, hang a piece of rug or carpet to make it standout. Poster or mirror is too common.

Agree, depends on the look you want. and your budget.

Best value for money and cheapest should be paint.

But paint rarely gives you a truly "high end" look, even all these textured or patterned painting.

Those with high budget will go for natural stone +/- wood.

Those in between will have all sorta options like faux stone, fiber cement board, ACPs, bamboo panels, wainscoting, etc.

Do not use wall paper. Later if you want to change to paint will be very difficult and really messy.

Not looking for anything which is super fancy. Maybe something classic but still exudes high end.

Then faux stone or laminates. Roughly RM30-50/sf. PVC fluted panels about RM20/sf. Paint about RM2.5/sf.

The wall is only a small part of the overall house presentation. The furnitures, lightings, fans plus other 'accessories' and its placing all are important.

The only word I can say ..... MATCHING.

RM30 psf vs RM 2.5 psf ? That's more than 10 times difference in the price.

Pay for materials and installation costs, obviously will be huge difference in price.

You need to define what is "high end" to you and the image you want to project to other people. Some only consider high end if use rare marble/3D concrete art to cover wall, some will think that same wall looks cheap and "try too hard".

Also depends on how you style the place, interior design must be harmonious, otherwise even if you use fancy marble slab it'll look tacky.

On trends, what might be trendy now may be impractical to use or live in, and trends rarely last. Style is forever: it's easier to use a defined style identity/lifestyle or time period of design to base your choice of wall treatment on, rather then rely on trends that will be expensive to upkeep.

Based on your questions and responses, you lack a clear vision for your interior. Unless you have unlimited budget and are happy to tear down and change walls every few years or are willing to pay expensively for a choice you might regret, I suggest that you think carefully and research about the overall design of your house, not just the wall.

I feel waincoating is the most untung, nowadays I see they just put a simple frame and paint over it.

I think the original wain coating you need to build a drywall behind or something
