Look for shop that offer 0% installment if buy via cc.

Or u better patiently save money now for 1 year and wait for next iphone 15 or 16. Would be much much advance than current.

it is not affordable but really it is a financial trap
people now a days live on credit rather than old days buying on cash if you saved enough

a phone is something that is easily gone missing / thief / damaged, imagine taking up installment plan for 3 years but losing it in 6 months time, still need to pay installment for the remaining 2.5 years + buy another replacement.

Second hand iPhone market on Shopee has the best rate

For new set p much most famous retails, yes it's expensive but not shady

Never settle for the ones advertised heavily on socmed, those are debt traps

Iphone value drop too much. If you care about resale value then you only need 1 Iphone Pro Max for the back design.

4 years on 3 camera design (11 to 14 Pro Max)
Almost all are price around 6k on start.
First year value drop to 4.5k
Second year value drop to 3k
Third year value drop to 2k

I just realised in the thread no one asking TS what phone is currently using instead just bashing him on buying via installment ..

Even for me I can outright buy cash, I will go for 6 mths max 0% interest free .. just annoyed sometime they force you to take up protection plan

Why you think buying iphone is stupid?

Flagship androids has become expensive, almost the price of an iphone.

Unlike few years back, can get decent flagship with almost half of an iphone price.

If you can manage your money well, then installment is definitely is the better choice compared with lumpsum.

There is a financial term for this case. It is called "opportunity cost".

Nothing wrong buying phone by paying installment. As long you can afford to repay. Even for those who can afford to pay full cash. No law or rules against it. Apa susah susah ?

TS, I bought mine at Harvey Norman by installment interest free.

Yes, but there are so many that offers 0 interest right?
Like maxis, umobile, digi, senheng and etc.
I dont know which one offer the best deal and services.

Buy cash usually can negotiate cheaper price. Zero interest usually retail price even market price already lower.

You now buy iPhone 14 but very fast iPhone 15 coming. So it make no difference if you buy 14 or 13 after one year of time.

Might as well buy iPhone 12 or 13 secondhand one will do. Cheap and good. You are buying its features as a phone not using it to show off.

Also hahaha, I do not show off with a phone. I show with land laugh.gif

Cc limit can be 4.2K which means you dont use the CC to spend for anything else besides the phone instalment. Then your cc limit will slowly increase back once you settle your monthly phone’s instalment

I using standard Chartered cc. 36 months intallment 0% interest. Company allow phone bill claim every month. Just nice 36 months monthly repayment company cover 100% of the cost.
*
This is the reason why phone prices have ballooned so much and Telco has no problem selling overpriced plans with overpriced phones.

A phone value has nothing to accrue. If cannot pay case then don't.

Unless you can claim some telco plan from your company, then you can add on the phone and get some discount. Eg your company allow you to claim RM120 telco plan then you can choose to add on phone and pay the phone as add ons.

in term price, i understand.. got slight difference

but telco got option right

Previously I know maxis offer 2 plan

zerolution normal = after contract end, is your phone
zerolution 360 = after finish contract, opt to get new model or return the phone back (so called subscription actually)

now just offer Zerolution normal je

Cannot afford cash means you can't afford it. Those who say take installment and got cash use for investment is just dumb. The 3-4k cash is not going to do anything. Poor just admit and buy a cheaper phone.

I mean accrue interest from the bank ..not the phone .. Phone will depreciate as time goes by

What i meant was instead of paying the phone in one go, can just leverage the 0℅, balance to save in the bank and earn interests

Since the 14 series is not much better than 13, you can opt for the 13 series via compasia. Now got CNY offer. The excellent condition phones are virtually like new.

actually the budget option is SE3..

if face ID, rather go for 12 as this gen onwards capable of face unlock with mask thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

if waited until 15 released, then 13 is all rounder (skip 14)

What a load of nonsense. So if i have to take a loan for my 1m property does that mean i cant afford it?

If TS wanna buy iphone and its 0% interest using cc, by all means drag 36 or if can 48 mths man. Only fools go and pay full price cash. Thats the benefit of credit card man. Using banks money to buy stuff at 0% interest is the best thing ever.

Only if the 1st owner bought and sign contract from a TELCO Then the telco can block the iphone if he never pays.

If he buys the phone on a 36 mth installment using cc from Machines or Switch and he defaults on his payment, the bank can never block the phone.

Anyway before u buy 2nd hand iphones, please go and check the imei first whether its telco phone or not. Shopee has plenty of ppl selling the service.

Lol, what garbage is this? If u have settled ur contract with telco, then the phone is totally yours already. Of course u have paid more because you are paying for the data and calls as well over a 24 mths period.

The reason ppl sign up contract with telco is so they can buy the phone at a discounted price. U sign 2 years contract u get to buy the phone at 4k instead of 6k(just an example) and also many ppl are able to claim telco bill from their company. So its very worth to sign up plan with telco . Who cares when your company is paying the bill.

actually the budget option is SE3..

if face ID, rather go for 12 as this gen onwards capable of face unlock with mask  thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif

if waited until 15 released, then 13 is all rounder (skip 14)

m
i bought the se2 for my mom back in 2020, thinking of changing either 12 or 13 for her because the screen size is so small and need to charge the battery 2 times a day tongue.gif

but i agree 13 is a great all-rounder right now

There isn't a catch in 0% installment plans. For people with a good grasp of their financials, this payment method has no downsides at all.

What the bank is doing is trying to catch the people who can't afford to fully pay off their credit card bills every month. The "possible" interest rate from the credit card amount owed is the whole idea of offering such plans.

Different people different financial management. A lot of reasons why one don't take 0% installment.

1. They think got hidden agenda.
2. They have the mindset that "installment means can't afford".
3. They prefer one-off payment so no need to worry about monthly installments later.
4. They lack of self-discipline - may use the money to spend on other stuff instead of paying monthly installments.
5. They don't want the installment amount to fill up their credit limit.
6. They may want to apply loan in the near future so they want a better DSR.

and so on.

Nowadays even Lazada and shopee also don't offer 0% installment.

Wonder why? Probably pushing their own paylater service?

I don't have that mindset. But apparently a lot of /ktards think that it's OK to take 3% installment to buy car but it's not OK to take 0% installment to buy phone. Maybe they can answer you.

If you are 100% confident you can pay the instalment on time, 0% easy payment is smarter than paying in full by cash.

Guys, question

If buy phone using CC instalment, eg:RM4200, the CC limit must be above Rm4.2k right?
*
yaaaa, and the outstanding balance will take up your cc limit (diminish as you pay). but whose cc limit is only 4.2k ?
