Currently the window of my bathroom is designed as per the pictures below. I noticed that during night time, when the bathroom light is on, the shadow viewable from outside the house is quite visible.

Also I don't like the idea of having the grill at the current location. The water and soap from the shower will make it rust, and it also makes the toilet cleaning job more difficult.

Would like to ask those who has this problem before, how did you solve it? I prefer to maintain the glass where more natural light can come in.

I'm currently thinking of the following, but not sure will it work or not.

Options:

1) Make the top casement window smaller, and change all the bottom part to glass blocks. But a bit worry about the skill of the workers, else the join around the glass blocks will not look good.

2) To move the grill to the outside wall, with maybe 6 or 8 inches away from the wall so that I can open the window slightly for ventilation. But I think the shadow will still be visible, do you think if it will help by putting a light outside of the windows? So both the inside and outside light will be on at the same time, maybe will become less visible?

3) Any other ideas/suggestions?

not an expert, but perhaps u can consider sticking those films / filters / adding frostings that would block more light for a certain part?

Cover the bottom glass area with opaque film?

just install those black out roller blinds. Im using it for many years. Same issues with you, actually from outside can see quite clear of our image if the bathroom is well lit . look for blindsman

thanks but from what i see on the neighbouring houses, the sticker doesn't seems to work at night. most of then will still need to hang a towel or cloth to cover it up

opaque film shall do the trick but then i'll need to let go the natural sunlight during day time. want to try to keep this if possible


ya considered this but since it's just next to the shower head, may i know will it be easy to clean? and will it get dirty easily by the soap scum?

if possible, would appreciate if you could share a picture of your set up?

perhaps another possible way to explore is the lighting

if ur bathroom light is directed kind then perhaps u can direct the light away from the glass so it wont project a shadow there (or you can switch the lighting to directed kind, but test with torch light before hand?)

top that off with the opaque film then it should work without too much hassle?

ya that's what i'm thinking also, but a bit hard to simulate the light without actually buying and fixing 1 first

our 4th bedroom window is like this, i asked contractor to remove the lower window and just concrete & paint it back.

1. For the lower piece, buy those transparent polycarbonate or acrylic sheet to screw it on the grille. Thereafter use clear silicone to seal the edges.

2. Change the glass to frosted.

The current window glass is already frosted type. I see got ppl stick on another layer but seems that it doesn't help much

Ya close up the bottom part is easy, but I'm trying to see if I can still maintain the natural light in as it will help to dry up the bathroom very much

Thanks, actually the original glass is already the frosted type. but the shadow is still quite clear at night.

Noted about the additional panel. But i think if put it inside, might trap water and difficult to clean. let me see if i can put it outside instead

as my shower is right next to it, i'm afraid the blind will get dirty easily and difficult to clean.

or maybe there are some different types of blind that is suitable for this purpose?

I use a daiso telescopic pole and slide through curtain also from daiso. Will diminish your natural lighting though if the curtain is too thick.

natural sunlight still can come in thru opaque film. my toilet has a huge square window so i'm using this. it works.

but serious design bodo siot. developer mana topkek ni? the grill like u said confirm will rust and everyone can see thru the window.

replace window and just turn to wall. keep the upper window for ventilation. who design this kind window in terrace houses.
