IST is nice bro, been pinin to hit it up, watched some travel vlogs got an itinerary going for a short trip.

Its so nearby DOH that i kept putting it off and go to europe instead.
Weather is good, shit is cheap, burds are pretty and friendly too. Go for it.

Other cheap places you might like are Tbilisi and Baku. Belgrade too

Unfortunately, during fly back to malaysia, 2 passengers died on the plane. You can gugel the news on september.. I dont like turkish airline.

Even their currency is cheap, from what we experience, the prices there quite expensive. Some frequent visitor told that its even more expensive b4 turkey's inflation. In airport all using euro currency.

Why i dun like IST:
- tourist trap, u will get scammed anywhere
- haggling is everywhere, basically u r open for slaughter if u pay asking price
- food sucks
- my luggage was damaged by Turkish airlines
- coffee sucks
- bombing

Been to istanbul twice.
I would say an eye opener for me as I saw the turkish likes dogs alot! Very different perception for me as I thought muslim always hates dog like malaysian muslim.

Turkish airline is good but the customer service very arrogant and not helpful at all...not sure if it is because I'm chinese.

Despite their currency is weak, but their inflation is high and offset the weak currency...I easily spend 10+ euro per meal.

But overall people are okayish, weather is chilling and many historical buildings to visit. Just hope for the best that you dont encounter any terrorism and bombing. And avoid sketchy area as there could be many refuges from other countries trying to get something from you.

And like many other euro countries, beware of scammer and pick pocket. And remember to get istanbulkart for travel.

Hi,

Just got back from my Turkey trip last week. Spend 12 days in Turkey, went to Istanbul, Bursa, Cappadocia and Uludag Mountain (Ski Resort). Travelled with wife and my daughter and all are done DIY. Only City tour/historical locations i.e. Hagia Sophia, Bassilica and Topkapi we took the day trip tour from the local/online package. Rented a car from Avec and drove from Istanbul to Bursa/Mudanya and spend few nights there visiting the many historical sites and proceed to Uludag mountain which is a ski resort where locals and tourist go for some snow actions. From Uludag return back to Istanbul and continue visiting both Europe and Asian side which have the BEST historical places for both Muslims and Non Muslims since the Turkish history goes back many centuries ago. For me the food was the BEST if you try all the locals food i.e. Turkish coffee, Salep, Kofte, Kuzu, Ayva and many more. Do go for the street foods and restaurants where you can get a kebab/shawarma from 50TR to 120TR depends on the place and locations you go. By the way if want to go Cappadocia for the baloon ride and save on travelling time, can take the Anadolu Jet which is the Turkish Airlines budget airways and the price is quite reasonable for a return ticket considering you will save a lot of time from driving/taking bus (8hrs++) to only 1hr++.

All in all my Turkey DIY trip was the best I've done. Recommending for anyone looking for architecture/history/nice weather (Istanbul) and food adventure!
