 if car bottom hit the bump, does it actually hurt the car?

Depends how hard and where you hit.

Usually the damper bump stops will take most of the weight if it fully compresses.

On flat surface no issue. Even cars that jump a parallel speed bump at high speed would have the front bumper scraped and the bottom splash guard and/or oil pan scraped.

But uneven launches..... can almost be certain the oil pan gone. Last time Boy96 showed his DVR where he was launched off a sharp divider and his car oil pan gone.
