For more insights on S40/60/80 maintenance and common problems, do check Malaysian Volvo owners' club. www.vocm.com.mydo get a Volvo with T5 engine. You'll be surprised on its performance. My advice, if you wanna use a secondhand Volvo, never send them to authorised dealer (Federal Auto, Swedish Marque etc.) for maintenance. Instead opt for reputable independent workshops. The price different is like heaven and earth. That's why a lot of people would not dare to try a Volvo, especially the newer models. This post has been edited by emechelmi: Oct 11 2007, 09:43 AM

From what I observe in LYN, most of Volvo-phobic statements come from those who never owned a Volvo during their entire life.
Strangely some of Proton bashers, owned a Proton.
FYI, Volvo cars has been around in Malaysia since 1960's with 122 model. The high number of old volvo cars (20 years and above) on Malaysian road speaks much on the durability and longetivy of the car and design. BMW only made impacts with Malaysians with their 3-Series in the 80's. Merc..this marque has been here more than 50 years. Synonym with successful businessmen as this is the most expensive luxury sedan available at that time.
