I saw a post in the official unifi thread on how to get a public IP from Unifi for packages under 300mbps, I personally currently am running a Xpenology NAS with 2 cameras(1 hikvision and 1 TP-Link Tapo recording locally to my NAS), would I have to provide the serial of my synology box for NVR and also my cameras serial? And after that they'd need to do a visit to check on the legitimacy of my setup or what? Appreciate any answers given. sweat.gif

If not mistaken, only customers with plan 100mbps and below get private ip. Subscribe to 300mbps to get a public ip will do.

If the price is your concern, then you can consider other provider. Maxis do provide public ip.

Else.

Even you're using private ip, you can register zerotier and install on your xpenology and access it remotely.

Else more advanced method, you can convert your router to openwrt and install zerotier..

Pretty sure fixed IP is only for Unifi Biz so that won't apply to me.

Yes I am aware of any plan that is below 300mbps is under CGNAT from TM. Price is a concern but Maxis is basically the same thing, unless 300mbps or above you'll get CGNAT no matter which, already had my friend check on his 100Mbps Maxis connection and is also under CGNAT.

I know solutions like Zerotier/Tailscale exists, but the CCTV is mainly for my parents to check on pets at home. Having them opening the Synology Cam app is already a struggle for them and for me to teach them, having to teach them to connect to Zerotier/Tailscale every time they want to look at the CCTV is just a big no for them AND me. I can teach me or my siblings on how to do it but teaching them is a big struggle (They're not a techy), I am also aware I can do OpenWRT method but then again as above, one more thing to teach is tough, and openwrt has been unstable for me to say the least.

So if I can request a manual public IP allocation to my parents' TM PPPoE account, I'd choose that over anyday and just point a ddns to my IP so I don't have to worry about anything and they can connect to it just fine by using DDNS. And from this post ( Quote ) , apparently it's possible but I have not seen any official confirmation from other forum members.

Yes your assumption may be right, according to unifi main thread

I suggest to give TM a call and hope that they (the tech support) can do something about it given the legit concern.

you can contact them at socmed (fb/twitter). said you want public ip for your application.

e.g: if you want for old non-cloud cctv, screenshot the cctv app/web settings and send it to tm socmed for faster activation

Oh, so I just need to send them a picture/graph/w.e of my CCTV setup and once they verify they'll grant a public IP address to my parents' PPPoE account? Was worried that they might only allow like Hikvision/BNC type connector connected to a normal style DVR.

Yeah that was my next option if there's no like confirmed responses from members here, don't want to waste time talking to a TM rep that doesn't even know what I'll be referring to and stuff. But will do that. smile.gif

Alright will do this and hope for the best then, don't want to bother upgrading to 300mbps when the internet is about to be cancelled rclxm9.gif

Idk if you know how CG-NAT works but, you can NOT do a DDNS when the IP assigned to you is literally a private IP address shared with multiple users, you can reach the wide internet from inside, but the external internet can't reach you, because you're literally under a major private network like how Class A/B/C private network works. And I do have a server, I'd pipe my internet through it but it's a German server so the latency won't be as stable. Yes a VPS in a SG provider is viable, but a reverse SSH tunnel can drop at anytime and isn't persistent.

if your contract is ending/ended, try and go for the SWU offer, can get 300mbps for rm129, then you’ll get your public IP.

alternatively, go cheaper using Celcom fibre. i’m on the 30mbps rm80 plan, just call customer service request public IP and they gave it to me no questions asked.

You have a Xpenology NAS and a germany server, maybe u can try "frp" to just expose your CCTV access port only with your server(remember to set the CCTV access password to prevent unauthorized access).
With this way the access device does not need to connect with vpn, that the service will be public access with the ip with port.
And of course get a MY or SG vps server is better. (There are some hosting provider that provide NAT VPS for micro usage is suitable for your usage.)

I have several servers within Unifi network, and they are working great no issue at all.

Nope been requesting for Public IP since Feb 2023 right after the Celcom and Digi merger... gave up in Aug 2024. Gonna switch back to Maxis (which runs under TM HSBB and provides Public IP) next year.
Below is their "reason" on MCMC portal, due to TM not letting them do so...
