Avoid dashcams with a built-in lithium ion battery, they dont fare well being exposed to high temp, which shortens the lifespan of the dashcam itself, not particularly useful when you're met with an accident and your dashcam failed because of the battery.

Opt instead for dashcams with a capacitor, DDPAI is a good budget brand, DDPAI Z40 is a solid model in their lineup (and has options for a dual front+rear dashcam).

Also, buy MicroSD cards that are specifically made for surveillance (SanDisk High Endurance, Samsung Endurance Pro), they have different warranty schemes and performance compared to regular MicroSD cards.

Regular MicroSD cards are design for highspeed read/write, but not for continuous read/write cycles, thus they're more likely to fail and the manufacturers will not honor the warranty due to improper usage.

i had used 70mai pro for 3-4 years. then bought a800(huawei chipset) for another car, used for 2 years+, now buying another a800s(lower quality chipset) for new car.

lithium doesnt affect its recording when connected to car charger. i change once 70 mai pro battery. very easy to replace. i changed since the time and date become default everytime start car.

other than that, work flawlessly. all dashcam connected to car charger only, as i dont use hardwire kit.

i easily recommend people for 70mai, but do check ddpai also since its using capacitor and within same price range.

Only buy Viofo if you use an Android phone. Their iOS app is unusable and will crash each time you try to connect to the camera.
