well u just google then u found out, i dont know now but last time really all JDM toyota wouldn't service it

I have no issues servicing my recon cars at Toyota sc before. Am I the only 1? I don’t think so.

But I don’t really recommend as the charges at the sc are much higher not to mention the long waiting time. But until u find your reputable workshop, sc is a good option. Anyway whatever that gets your ball to roll mate.

Depending on circumstances, can biggrin.gif

For the most part, i would say yes, can also.
Obviously you'll be at the lowest priority, but it isn't outright no.

Case in point, my recond GT86 went through an engine valve spring recall exercise through UMWT smile.gif

Ooooh I didn't know that at all! I just confirmed with a credible source and yes, apparently they are allowed to service grey imports starting from 2017.

QUOTE(overfloe @ Dec 23 2022, 09:39 AM)
Same like honda. If is a global recall, the SC will help to change. For servicing though, can only walk in and be at lower priority.

Interesting... is this from a personal experience or hearsay? I believe they are not allowed to service grey imports, and for recalls, they will not have these vehicles' vin codes in the system.

Yes, Toyota SC can service grey imports and even other car brands. It is up to the service personal want to accept or not.
A lot of their own technicians cars from different brand also do servicing in-house, i got technician friends working in Nissan & Mazda SC do servicing for other car brand like Suzuki & Toyota also. If no more warranty concern, they can accept any car brand also if they want. laugh.gif

you mean XU80 (gen 4 harrier)?

it uses the dynamic force engine (M20A-FKS) which is also used in the Camry (MXVA71), Lexus ES 200 (MXZA10), Innova/Kijang Innova Zenix (MAGA10), and Noah/Voxy/Suzuki Landy (MZRA90/95) aka Baby Vellfire/Alphard.

As you can see from the list above the engine is used in many common UMW and imported Toyota/Lexus on our roads, no need to worry about spare parts

Mr Chairman,
Any idea why Toyota is not locally assembling Harrier considering that the demand is high and so popular here in Malaysia? If iyts locally assemble, the cost and taxes can be brought down lower. Isnt that wonderful for both buyer and manufacturer?

I drive a XU80 (non recond). The reason I got it was because it’s assembled in Japan.

If Malaysia is indeed a High Income Nation as alleged by politicians, yeah why not ? Until we see sales figures for Harriers like that of Perodua Axia numbers etc, its all about economies of scale and profitability.

We have been trying to shake off the quality perception that assembled in Japan is always far superior to those from assembly plants located in various parts of the world but we can't. I think the main problem is our Japanese workforce are way to dedicated in their work as compared to compatriots from other parts of the world.

Relative booked harrier, 2 months ago.
Toyota said estimate delivery is next February. Wonder is it because low sales, so they not prioritize Msia.

Malaysia getting smaller batches of the lowest tier model (2.0 Petrol) because they’re prioritizing markets like SG and Taiwan where the 2.5 Hybrid is selling well. Toyota literally cannot build enough to satisfy demand. SG waiting list is 1.5yrs and Toyota SG already suspended new orders. In Malaysia, at least 1/3 of each Harrier shipment from Japan is being reserved for Kinto leasing (mostly to companies). Source: I’m one of those Kinto subscribers. As for why we don’t get the more expensive 2.5 Hybrid, blame UMW. I suspect UMW are trying to protect the Lexus NX line because the top spec Harrier XU80 would be very close to entry level NX200 pricing.

Nonsense. All Toyota SCs want money. They never reject any recond cars now and never have.

Yes, as stated in one of my post earlier, I was not aware and have corrected it. But this policy was only put in place from 2017.

Sorry, I didn't notice I was replying to an old thread. Haha. But it has been their policy even before 2017. My friend had an old recon estima with malfunctioning side doors back in 2012 and Toyota SC took it in and fixed it for him.

It's great that your friend managed to get it fixed but I'm just sharing what's been told to me from my colleagues who jumped from T since I'm in a competitor principal haha. rclxub.gif
