Hahaha... No wonder.
I got tyre puncture in Kampar. Want to inform I was late but I dunno you guys' number. Tried to log in LYN using HP also can't remember password. Should have reached Hartamas if no such incident happened.

I only know you ride a Dominar as this has been numerously highlighted here by you.
*
Woaaa ....No shit. You came from north??

So you fixed the flat yourself?

We were wondering what happened to you.

Managed to contact the mobile tyre puncture guy after asking around at the nearby petrol station.

I ride up north yesterday from Pandan. Since it is quite near Duta, might as well meet up with you guys. But shit happened...  tongue.gif

Was just trying my luck and see if you guys would stay late...
*
Glad you made it back safety.

You don't carry a tyre repair kit and pump when you travel? Those are an always carry for me when I go basically anywhere outside city limits....along with tools for basic repair and possibly some spare parts and a first aid kit.

Talking about shit happens scenario, I forgot to pack my spares kit (gear lever and bolt, clutch cable, throttle cable, spark plugs, some oil and brake fluid) on my last Thailand trip and nearly snapped my clutch cable midway back. Fortunately I managed to get back to ipoh to get it replaced. Shifting mostly without the clutch after I got on the highway.

Just goes to show just how a little brain fade might have got me stuck in Thailand.

Basic spares definitely needed in Thailand. It's not like they will have bajaj parts readily available in Thailand...for a honda maybe.

Nope. After this I will. Lesson learnt.

BTW, where can I buy a good tyre puncture repair kit? Is Mr. DIY's cacing and repair kit good enough?
*
Cacing will do fine. It's a tried and tested method. Just learn how to use it on a old worn out tyre before you change out the tyre. Tools are no use if you don't know how to use them.

Hint. Inflate the tyre up BEFORE you pull the nail, file the lubang and cucuk the cacing.

I carry a combination of cacing and tyre repair screws. Not had the unfortunately incident to use them yet.

This would need an air pump and also 12V supply... I do bring along tyre inflator spray if travel far or highways.
*
Battery powered pumps do exist you know. tongue.gif.

But anyway, I have both a 12V and USB socket on my bike.

While I hadn't had to use my pump on my own bike to fix a flat, I have used it to top up my tyre especially after airing it down slightly for off road, and make short work of my bicycle tyres. Helped some guys stranded on the road and RnR before also. It's a good thing to carry when travelling...even if you do not need to use it.

And for those that do have a 12V power socket. Please turn the pump on without load, then only attach to your wheel. If you turn on the pump while attached to an semi inflated tyre, it might be too much a load and blow the fuse.

For the USB and 12V socket you DIY or let shop do??? I tot of DIY using Y connectors so no need to strip any wiring…
*
Everything on my bike is DIY. In fact, done better than the shops will bother to do...especially for electrics.

I have a relay that is plumbed into a switched source, which in turn switches an auxiliary fusebox powered by the battery. All the accessories (aux power, fog lights, future auxiliary lights or electronics) are/will be connected to that aux fusebox. So each accessory will have its own isolated fused circuit (nothing is grounded to the bike) and I don't have a jumble of wires going to the battery. Makes it easy to isolate and troubleshoot if things crap out in the future and I don't need to worry about the accessories messing with the bikes electrics.

If want it done properly, you have to do it yourself.

Usually, when you bring a pump.. your friend needs it, but when not bringing. .then puncture happens bangwall:

Also if possible along the highway, try not to ride on the emergency lane unless it's really necessary to avoid the jam.

Plenty of metal debris, not only nails that can puncture your tires.
*
I think that alone is enough reason to bring a pump. So you dont get punctures......hahahaha

so to enter betong OR danok with a 110cc bike no need internation license right ..just to confirm

and cheapest insuran is 3 month @rm60 right?
*
No need. You just need your regular license.

As for insurance, the verdict is out there. Some say just the compulsory insurance is enough, some say to top up for the voluntary insurance as well. But if you are just riding into town and not go anywhere far, i suppose compulsory insurance will suffice.

Guys, do you pre-book hotel in Thailand or you reach where you wanna go then search?
*
I've done both. But popular spots or during holidays better pre-book. If you are not too picky where you stay, you can just go and find a place.

If really cheap, you can just go camping on the outskirts. Just look around. Usually can find for 5 to 10rm/night. Usually clean and will have some facilities.

hi to all sifus,

would like to ask about the procedures crossing the border to thailand via kayu hitam.

When entering thailand.

Do i have to queue up at drive through immigration counter together with the cars
[attachmentid=11466059]

Or can i just park at the side and do my stamping at the walk in immigration building ?
[attachmentid=11466060]

I saw a vlogger who drove past(jump queue?)  all the cars queueing up at the drive through immigration counter for cars and park near the last counter and just walked over to the last drive through counter to get stamp. is that
allowed?
[attachmentid=11466061]

added the video at the current timestamp where he just enter the drive thru to get stamp by foot. is that allowed?

https://youtu.be/Q27989Sn9RM?t=927
Exiting Thailand

likewise when leaving thailand do i also need to queue up at the drive through counter or just enter the big immigration building to get my passport stamped, instead of the hassle of queueing up under the hot sun via the drive through immigration counter.
*
I didn't enter via BKK but only exited (I entered via betong). But the process would be similar for entry I suppose.

You just park and walk in. The immigration building processes bikes and bus passengers. You don't need to line up with the cars. On exiting, just remember to return your custom form at counter 8 (old immigration checkpoint just before exiting thailand)

Not sure if this is a norm for Betong immigration, but I just encountered this recently.. So hopefully whoever doesn't know yet, can know the risk..
Firstly is the duty free terms has changed.. No matter how long you stayed, you can't bring back duty free cigarettes.. (previously can buy one box (10packets) if you stayed minimum 4d3n..
Secondly, they recently started to randomly spot check on motorcycle as well, especially with boxes installed.. (previously I went they never checked).. And this time (yesterday), even my friend who doesn't have any box or luggage, was asked to open up his waist pouch for checking..
Thirdly, and for the first time in so many years I went.. Traffic police joining the border police (the last check right after duty free building).. Issuing summons to vehicles.. 2 of us had slip-on exhaust installed, but luckily never summoned.. But one of my friend was summoned due to plate number regulation..
Hopefully all can take note on these, and be prepared if there's any mods that's not allowed on your bike..
*
Just saw your post on FB. Hahaha.

But yes. Sometime police/jpj will camp out near border crossings. Not just Betong.

Just got back from a solo riding trip from KL - Krabi - KL via Betong and Wang Kelian border checkpoints. Avoided the usual popular checkpoints cause don’t wanna jam up with the lorries and all. No hassle going through these lesser known and relaxed checkpoints and I’m the first in queue at both checkpoints.

Total 6D5N
Day 1: KL - Betong (via WCE, Betong Checkpoint)
Day 2: Betong - Hatyai (via AH18)
Day 3: Hatyai - Krabi
Day 4: Krabi
Day 5: Krabi - Satun
Day 6: Satun - KL (via Wang Kelian Checkpoint, AH2)

Anyone who is on the fence about riding to Thailand, I would say, just do it. Great experience.
*
I did the betong - pattani - hatyai - dannok loop last month.

Will have to do the west coast loop some day when the weather gets better. It's very very wet now.

Planning to ride to koh lanta solo ride from kl, first time doing such long distance ride. furthest i rode is hatyai
will be doing a stopover at hatyai for a night before continuing my journey

will be bringing zip ties, tyre cacing, air pump, torque wrench (should i?) as emergency repair kit , chain lube
any other essentials that i need to bring aside from those mentioned above?
any tips for the journey is appreciated as well
*
Ko Lanta isn't a very long ride.

Normally I would just pack the following
Tool kit (mine is customized to the sizes I use) + some spare bolts, zip ties
Pump + cacing + tyre screws

I usually dont carry chain lube, as I usually lube my chain with 75w90 gear oil before the trip. They tend to last longer than the spray on stuff. if a long trip, i just fill a small bottle and a toothbrush

Clutch cable is good to have a spare. I had a trip where my cable nearly snapped. held on by 4 wire strands by the time i made it back.

If you are going off road, bring a spare shift lever and clutch lever. Foot pegs , usually you can use/swap the rear ones in a pinch.

Ultimately, it depends on how much storage you have.

Buy Bike warrior coverage. 160 buys you a lot of peace of mind.

Anyone rode from KL to Golok before? Which route is the best to take? Specifically on holiday 13/9 - 15/9..
Might want to try explore there.. Or anyone interested? 😜
*
I would try to avoid Golok for now. Been some recent bombings.

Not sure if the Gua musang road is done or has a bypass made. Was seriously landslide damaged sometime back.

Ok here it is what it says.

Free towing service is provided to nearest Allianz authorized workshop.

I suppose still have to pay out of pocket for towing to border. After border can get free towing back to KL (out of your remaining 600km annual allocation). Anyway, still well worth the money.

Damn...how long is the ride on that route?
*
Doable in a day. But would be a long day. But don't do it in the weekend. Ringlet to Kg baru is jammed solid on route to Gua musang Because you need to pass through the madness at Tanah Rata and Brinchang.

The shorter and much faster route albeit less scenic is NSE simpang pulai to blue mountain on route to Gua Musang and Rantau Panjang. Can probably get through to overnight at Golok.

Just a warning, there are quite a few big dips on the Sg Koyan road that can throw you off if you are not careful. Just watch for darker spots on the road.

Sg koyan road is one of my favourites. I recently did a solo Malaysia 1000 corner ride starting from Simpang Pulai -> Camerons -> Sg Koyan -> Raub -> Frasers Hill -> KKB -> Batang Kali -> Genting -> and back down via Karak to KL. about 6hrs excluding stops.
