Two great actors in one amazing movie..wooohooo (Johnny Depp and Alan Rickman)
By the way, this new movie reminds me of Edward Scissorhands...whatever it is...im looking forward to see this movie.Another different look of Johnny Depp cool2.gif

Actually, this sweeney todd has a lot of version.Last time, there was a movie about this too but it was a long time ago. Also, they made a drama out of this story as well. But,this sweeney todd is the new movie ,not the drama and not the old version movie.
I can say this movie is gonna be something like phantom of the opera because its part musical and part story.I cant wait to watch and see Depp singing shocking.gif tongue.gif

BIG fan of Depp, looks like we'll be treated to another one of his eccentric performances. Halena Bonham Carter also acted in Fight Club right? She's great for this kind of roles.

I think the trailer's crap. Alan Rickman is Alan Rickman la but Depp singing is just shit from the two lines : I will have vengeance, I will have....." All the promise the movie has hyped has gone down the drain for me.

Rest assured a 'Depp Musical' will not be 'just another musical'.

For me it's not so much about Depp + Burton combo. It's about Depp alongside Helena Bonham Carter.

watched it, it's very bloody ; has a very Tim-feel to it, lovely~

I was kinda expecting the whole ending to be his family's demise caused by his ruthlessness in wanting revenge... but it didnt biggrin.gif

Lovely singing I must say, I particularly love the friend song ; the judge has a terrible singing tone if I dont say so myself tongue.gif

7/10, -1 for censorship biggrin.gif

Watched it, I recommend for anyone who like musical, I enjoyed the singings and the dark lyrics behind. It's strange that I am glad most of the throat slitting parts got censored, as much as I can take in violence, throat slitting kinda creeps me out.

Watched it today in GSC Timesquare,

The movie was great too bad some censor scenes,

I can enjoy the movie with my gf for the moment, until there are 2 stupid malay ladies talk nonstop for the whole damn fuking 2 hours movie, comment about the blood, screamed when Todd killed the judge and said "mumpus lar!" or "ei~~ ah~~~!" loudly in the cinema...

Please if you are watching in cinema please shut the fuk up and leave your stupid comments after the movie! The cinema is not yours! faggs!

Me and my gf asked them so keep quiet, but they screwed the whole mood by over lapping their laughter during the Shaving battle scene.

Oh well.. just to release my anger here... thanks for reading my post... happy.gif

Advice for someone who are going to watch this movie, please do not disturb other people, and keep you comments down low or after the movie...

I didn't like the ending.
But overall I enjoy it and like the song.
Great performance by Helena.
Depp's voice sound a bit modern to be singing those songs, but his vocal is superb.
I think he's better than most of the singer out there.

just watch the movie last night...i like the tim burton's style of movie. one look, you can tell there is similarities between Edward Scissorhands, batman and beetlejuice. and at one time there is even a spoof for beetlejuice "starring" johnny depp in beetlejuice's costume!

but the singing was too much..i mean, i know johnny depp will sing in the movie but that singing was too much. i just can't take it.

and movie ends with cliffhanger..
1. what happened to joanna?
2. what happened to anthony?
3. what about toby? will he be take over sweeney's place?

Joanna and anthony characters are not so important for the movie ending...lets just say they lived happily ever after...as for Toby..his character was built for that one moment...to slit Mr.Ts throat. What happened to him is anyones guess..I would love to see Toby takes Mr.T place, but I dun think so by a long mile...

I agree. They repeat each song like 3x throughout.

And the storyline is quite...pointless. The whole meat pie thing is sick.

Another instance of some Malaysians need to learn cinema etiquette.
now i don't know what some of them expected when they bought tickets to watch this (maybe Rambo was full kot)... but sighing and making noise while others are trying to enjoy the show shows that some Malaysians lack class and proper behavior (seat kicking and noisy handphones). Now i'll admit that the constant singing might not be everyone's cup of tea... and you are entitled to your rants, but do it after the show lah...
ruined it for me...

the movie was cool, tho there are some flaws. IMO the ending was kinda fast, like suddenly everything comes into place. and well the characters are pretty one dimensional. then again i dont think its possible to make a movie with believable people with singing.

on the goood side, the lyrics are witty as hell. and well there are a number of great scenes.

I thought the original broadway play.. the boy Tobias was supposed to have gone cuckoo-mad and that's why he killed Todd. Gotta love the song "A Little Priest" where they were singing all the various type of 'meat pies' she would sell.. like poet, priest, vicar, squire, lawyer.. lol.. i think the broadway one had more 'occupation'.. quite shortened.

Agreed with the above poster the lyric and singing was really good.

Oh the scene of Tobias spitting out something at the end while he was chewing the pie.. PRICELESS.. lol. I'll never feel the same way again eating paos...

Depp's acting was great as usual, he completely blended into that role of Todd perfectly it's scary. Alan Rickman on the other hand, talks like Snape... gawd I can't get that out of my mind.. lol

Watched it yesterday. Loved it to bits.

Once i heard its a Burton/Depp collabo, there's no need to know other things. The team up of Burton/Depp added with Bonham-Carter, i wouldnt miss this for anything!

But i really got a shock at the first throat slit, i didnt know it was going to be gory. I frozed in my seat with my mouth wide open, ohmy.gif

Johnny Depp could really sing. There's also a reason for songs to be repeated throughout the show, the songs are tied to the feeling that it represents. Like the London song, when he thinks about how he hates London, and the shaving song, when he plans to kill someone. I especially likes it when the songs are melded into a medley to express a mixture of feelings, like when Todd sings the shaving/killing song mixed together with the girls song sung by the judge.

Depp just works as Todd. Just imagine he's your barber and he shaving you with a sharp gleaming razor, just watching like a predator. Your life is , literally, in his hands.

Watch it with an open mind, and you will see that this is a movie unlike no other.

I must say... god damn bloody movie. (and thats a compliment). Wonder how many bottles of ketchup they wasted.

the movie reminds me of harry potter thanks to the the-one-with-the-distinct-VOICE that acts in both movies.

i think the movie was done well and if u didn't expect a musical then you must be a NOOB. cause most of Tim burtons movies are musicals except a select few (sleepy hollow).

the movie was done well untill the Malaysian Nothing-To-do_judgier-von-holier-than-thou. cutted the best parts of the movie.
the americans in the cinema cursed and went to the counter asking for their money back

Wah lau.. i nv expect this kind of show. Freaking bloody raw. I like it!!

The downside is there is a bunch of retarded ingat sendiri macho sangat was laughing very loud whenever there is a singing. They thought it was so sissy and making fun and teasing the movie. But when the first killing of Pirelli was done, they become a little quite. Until the part where they show the kitchen and full of human body etc, the retarded group completely glued to the chair and was extremely quite like a little boy thumbup.gif

Helena Bonham Carter is engaged to Tim Burton, and they have a kid together
If you guys notice, she acted in a lot of Tim Burton's movies before, e.g. Corpse Bride, Planet of the Apes
She looks scary in the movie, but certainly not airport la sweat.gif

I need the original OST sad.gif

It's okay 'lar' the movie.... =) but when i watched it on the first day of release i think, halfway thru the movie, many people left! I guess it's more of a musical/deeper type of movie.... so not many people appreciate such movies haha .... =.= so anyway yeah... =)

Watched it today... it's so straight forward that I knew what was going to happen from beginning till the end. What I was hoping for is that the musical would be good... turns out it falls flat for me. One of the reasons would be... it's not compose by Danny Elfman.

What I don't understand is... the movie could have been better but the lyrics just doesn't stood up well. After watching this movie, I realize so many censorship in this movie... I mean, the censor of slitting throats turns me off the most. Rambo hardly any censor at all and the violence over there is even worse than Sweeny.

Still, this is not Tim Burton I know... maybe I'm used to his old ways... but then, changing one part of it fails a movie not of style but of how a director show his vision to the audience... just like what Michael Bay did for Pearl Harbor...

Kind of a disappointment for me cos I read about the real Sweeney Todd years prior to this movie and its a must-watch for me when I saw the poster. Storyline's absolute bollocks but again its Johnny Depp's acting that really got me watching. Tim Burton shouldnt have changed the real Sweeney Todd's profile. Its kinda lame that a serial killer from history suddenly becomes someone obsessed with seeing his wife and daughter. Ending is so damn loose that they never tell what happened to Joanna after that. But the songs are good =) . This, is the real Sweeney Todd:
