my landlord does not want to buy fire insurance for the shop i am going to rent. he said he has done paying the installments for the shop. he said i can get fire insurance on my own for the shop and the belongings in the shop if i want to. can he do that? we are still negotiating the tenancy agreement now.
Fire insurance even if the landlord purchased wont cover tenants goods or equipments in the rented property. Is only for the property in case of damaged by fire. But your landlord is stupid to take such risk himself for a small premium.
Your own goods coverage is known as 'Home Content' policy and why must landlord insured tenant's goods ?
For your normal house fire policy it wont cover contents unless purchased separately.
