Water tank is installed inside the roof. Replacing it requires taking off big part of the rooftop and reconstruct i guess? Not sure the correct way. Anyone been this situation b4? Looking for a valid solution and for those who had experience how much does it cost for 4 u to replace?

Use fiber restoration kit to seal the leaking points . There is no need to replace the water tank.

'Water tank' bocor can be either .....

1. Water tank body itself
2. The connecting pipes
3. The faulty float valve.

Anyone inspected it ? Any photos ?

My advise is to replace or place a new tank on the grd floor together with a pump.

Unless you know diy to save money, no plumber can guarantee it wont leak again after patching it.

Everything has a lifespan. Today patch the leak, tomorrow it leaks another place, unless you dont mind diy patching everytime it leaks.

The resin , after it dried off, it won”t have further reaction. The purpose of the resin is to melt the fiberglass, the fiberglass is actually a type of glass.

change the tank la
if you install pump like some who suggested, be careful bekos the pressure might cause new internal leaks if your existing pipes kenot handle the pressure, lagi problem!

Replacing the tank, this should be the cost involve :-

Rental of crane - smallest in the market 25 Tons = RM 600 for 1/2 day, if they don't rent 1/2 day, then need to pay for full day around RM 1200~1500.
Removal of roof tiles & placing back roof tiles = RM 600
New PE water tank (330 igal) = RM 800
Installation of joints, valves, etc = RM 400.

Total worst case = 1500 + 600 + 800+ 400 = RM 3300.

That should be the range you are looking at.

If seal back, own DIY - fiberglass restoration kit = RM 25~30. 1/2 day labour sendiri buat = RM 0. Total cost = RM 25~30.

Hence it will be RM 3300 vs RM 30. wink.gif

Ya, this is the best idea. If have to change the tank.

The roof/ceiling dismantle and repair cost can be high. The cost can be use to cover the plumbing modify.

Need a crane? not necessary laa ...Asked your local 'ng kam tim' kedai to recommend Indo plumber, they can do it ... opened part of roof tiles, replaced and closed back roof tiles.

Did this before, no big issue laaa ....
