Wassup guys,

Thanks to everyone's comments & critic in my previous post about my proposed build,
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5279514 biggrin.gif

I finally built my PC during 11.11 sales tho it took me a month to post it up as I was away for a while and then were doing some memory XMP tweaking when I got back. Haha.

Anyhow during the months in between, my specs have largely changed somewhat as below:

Core i7 12700F + RM1 stock cooler (unchanged)

Asrock B660M PG Riptide (15 power phase goodness & works with 4x RAM at XMP)
https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/B660M%20PG%...ptide/index.asp

Teamgroup Delta RGB 3600MHZ 8GB x 2 (saw review it can do 4x 3600MHZ RAMs at XMP)
https://www.teamgroupinc.com/en/product/delta-rgb-ddr4

Where all three were reviewed to be working at full unlocked PL2 comfortably, with 4x 3600MHZ DDR4 ram. Plus aftermarket cooler.
(shout out to Tech Yes City) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3vwAt3J-Sg

Manli Geforce RTX 3060Ti (the manliest card brand whatmore can I say HAHA! But at RM1598 its one of the cheapest)
https://www.manli.com/en/product-detail-Man...+N630)-291.html
https://videocardz.net/manli-geforce-rtx-3060-ti-8gb

FSP HV PRO85+ 650W 80+Bronze (this is the newer 85+ version)
https://www.fsplifestyle.com/en/product/HVPROBR650W.html

Tecware Nexus Air TG (unchanged)
https://www.tecware.co/nexusair

24" LG 24MP400-B (budget IPS monitor, meh 75Hz refresh rate)
https://www.lg.com/my/monitors/lg-24mp400-b

Parts reused:
256GB Adata SP900 SATA SSD (MLC goodness plus my ori Win10 is reused)
4TB 3.5" SATA HDD (internal storage)
4TB WD HDD (external storage via rear 3.0USB)
1TB USB HDD (external storage via rear 3.0USB)
1.5TB Seagate HDD (external storage via rear 3.0USB)
1.5TB Seagate HDD (external storage via rear 3.0USB)
*Maximised my rear USBs LOL

Total cost is a bit under RM 5000. However for the system only (minus the monitor), you could say it is a RM 4.5K system and that is with Alderlake i7 and 3060Ti.

Overall impression, I've been working on these specs since June and making changes along the months until I made the buy so, can I say I am a lil bit disappointed there wasn't any surprises? Maybe. Only the RAM performance did not do as I had expected.

I'll be going into the RAM section to ask some advice about it as my RAM just barely couldn't make it for 3600MHZ.

Anyhow I'm quite satisfied for now but this is not the end as my PC will be a long term work in progress of constant improvements.

I will post some individual parts reviews, benchmarks when I have the time but for now here is my nondescript sleeper PC build.

Grats on your new rig. Perhaps, get Thermalright Peerless Assassin so that your CPU can flex its muscles.

Congrats.

Might want to replan how your data stored, consider having redundancy and for important files to have backup. Files corruption and dead HDD will hit without notice.

If you play long hour of high graphics game, I doubt your Intel stock fan can give you optimum temp to give your processor to run optimum performance.

Some benchmarks I did. Not really sure if these are okay results, considering Im using stock cooler and underspec RAM. Anyways:

Thanks. PA120 is really good for its price but dual towers are for me a bit meh since nearly all will have front fan overlap the RAM. So Im looking towards single towers and spotted this quite a rare beast;
Thermalright Burst Assassin 120

It has the same 6 heatpipes, convex coldplate, and 245W TDP, plus it has perfect RAM clearance for LGA1700 mobo setup with 4x RAMs.

Considering a full PL2 unlocked 12700 will peak at 180+W it would stay comfy under full load with the BA120 thermal headroom.

Hey thanks for the suggestion! Yeah my storage choice was a bit weird, as I had been using external HDDs basically as additional storage as they were permanently hooked up to my previous PC and the same as well with this new build. All in all after using the ported over SATA SSD, it didn't feel all that slow so delay a bit on the upgrade to my storages.

My long term plan for upgrades will be something like this;

2023 CPU tower cooler(thinking of Thermalright BA120 as above) > 2024 512GB/1TB Nvme Gen4 SSD @4-6k MBps (perhaps Crucial P5Plus) > 2H2024/2025 another 8+8GB TeamGroup DDR4 3600 RAM sticks (to fully occupy my RAM slots) > 2026 2/4TB Nvme Gen4/5/6? SSD @7+k MBps > 2027 xx70/xx80 level GPU + higher watt PSU.

The RAM upgrade I might bring it earlier if I foresee DDR4 might soon be discontinued or worse a price hike incoming.

Hey thanks for your comments! Well mine is nonK so you'd be surprised that it keeps to within 80oC during gaming with averaging 60+oC. Even the stock fan only spins to <3000rpm so the noise from it isnt that unbearable. Yes its not really optimum as the tau defaults to 65W atm using stock cooler. But I will change that following my upgrade path. With the BA120 headroom, I will then unlock the full PL2 potential of this CPU. rclxm9.gif

I just done some cleaning on my liquid cooler fans. It give me average of 42~45°C. Normal gaming it run around 60~65°C. While heavy graphics game, it could keep me below 80°C while duing video processing with Adobe Premiere Pro it keep me below 88°C. BY the way, I'm running on AMD processor.

You can refer this https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5341702 as I am doing a separate parts review. Gainward, Palit & PNY are basically the same company with equally B-tier cards so it is up to you but do check out my complete review where I point out much similarities with my Manli 3060 Ti.

I must be doing something wrong as I prefer to turn off whatever little RGB it comes with. Lesson learned. Hu hu

Just finished the review of my case, the Tecware Nexus Air.

Please go to this thread https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=ST&f...#entry106285011

Do note this is the midtower Air and not the more commonly reviewed Nexus Air M which is the MATX version.
