took my dad to visit a cardiologist (not surgeon)...
waited like 4 hours cos we were late. during the 4 hours, the number of patients were like 20 persons. My dad was pretty much the last patient. Each patient is being charged like 100 to 200 on average. So that is 4K per day at least. x 20 days say, so that works out 80K rm at least.
(the nurse/helper to the doc explained that usually the mornings are very busy. Afternoon would be freer and that is when the doctors go do their rounds)
This is just visits... did not include their ops. Those would be extra income.

haha... no lar... the nurse very smart and don't really want to say much. i just simply talk a bit with her.

This is private hospital... the doctor consultation fee goes directly to the doctor (I guess that is why they are called consultants). the hospital gets nothing from that.

the hospital makes money from all the tests, medicine sold, operation costs, etc.

doctors got expenditures of course. the highest usually is insurance.
(btw, that 80K was just my estimate of normal patient visits/follow up fees. Does not include operation fees that we always read about how much is being charged)

interesting... no wonder i heard some of the doctors will tell their patients that they can do follow up at their private practices. Apparently its quite normal and patients gladly go to the clinics as it is cheaper.

no lar... the nurses should be full time staffs of the hospital...

consultation room... this one a old classmate of mine who became a doctor explained before. If the doc is very famous (ie brings in a lot of patients), the room rental is almost free.

the hospital makes a lot of money from just marking up the medicine.
First time I didn't realize so I bought 1 week worth of medicine for my dad from the hospital pharmacy. it came out to be almost 500rm.
I went to outside pharmacy to purchase the same 1 week worth. 100rm thereabout.

the hospital don't need to "tax" the doctors at all with this kind of margin.

what I know is not once my dad's visit to the hospital did not include blood test (that was like 200 rm)... and there is processing fee of like 10 rm. I guess the 10rm could be for the nurse... no idea.

for example, the last visit (last month), the doctor consultation fee was 100, blood test was 185rm and processing fee was 10rm.
